Recent Cape Vincent reviews

  • Heritage House offered all the comforts of home.

"Our family of 5 adults enjoyed our recent stay at the Heritage House. Marjorie was prompt in confirming our reservation. Before our arrival, we e-mailed and had a phone conversation to go over the details concerning the house and area. Marjorie was friendly, helpful and offered good sight-seeing suggestions for our short stay of 3 days. Heritage House lived up to its listing and reviews. The house and grounds were spacious, clean, light and comfortable. We cooked most of our meals at the house. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, implements and serving ware. The deck and the front patio sitting area offered lovely perches to view the changing light. The house location was perfect for sight-seeing,, It's a 15-20 minutes walk to the village of Clayton and the Antique Boat Museum (a world class collection of boats). The village has a well stocked supermarket and a good selection of eateries. We ventured to Tibbetts Point Lighthouse and the Cape Winery in Cape Vincet. We also took the Two Nations cruise - offered by Unicle Sam boat tours in Alexandria Bay. Sight-seeing was easy and personal, as we traveled in the shoulder season. The Thousand Islands must be teeming with visitors during the summer months. Thanks to Marjorie and Heritage House, our family had a delightful getaway."

  • Simply nice

"This property was simple and perfect for our family's stay in Cape Vincent. We loved the quiet street with a field across the lane to play bocce or kick a ball around. Yasmine met us there at check in and was super nice and helpful."

  • We found *that* place!

"For years, my husband and I have searched for that "On Golden Pond" place... somewhere we could regroup and just be quiet. A place where we could leave electronics in the off mode and play kick-the-can with the kids by flashlight. In today's world, imagine finding a place where it feels safe to leave windows and doors unlocked at night. A place where you leave a fishing pole ready to go on the dock, and watch pilot boats pull large ships through the channel. Imagine watching fiery sunsets with a glass of wine in your hand as the kids throw rocks into the St. Lawrence River, in high anticipation of nightfall, when they can *safely* continue play outside until they're exhausted. This is that place for us. It felt like the entire island was ours. One afternoon, a short walk with the kids turned into a seven mile adventure; we didn't see another soul on the entire island. We were hot, sweaty, was heaven. As for the manor, all the buildings were tidy and well maintained. The cottage was lovely and perfect for our family. When the kids get older, they'll LOVE staying in the boathouse. We mostly stayed on Carlton Island. But on the few occasions that we ventured out, we found some nice shops in Clayton, and a couple local restaurants had good beer and burgers. Our only regret about staying at Argersinger Manor is that one week wasn't long enough. It's the kind of place where lifelong memories are made; our kids are still talking about it."

  • Just perfect

"Steps away from the water, located on a protected cove, plenty of room for a family of five, and beautiful sunsets made this cottage just perfect. We will definitely be back."
