  • Great reunion/vacation rental home!

"We were a group of 12 adults and we stayed in this home for a full week. One family upstairs, one couple on the main floor, and one family downstairs. It was great for each family group to have its own bathroom, plus there's the extra half bath on the main floor. There was plenty of floor space in the bedrooms for our extra air mattress beds. The kitchen is spacious, the dining area is nice! We even put the extra leaf in the table and had more seating with a few chairs from the porch/deck. The main living room is big and has quite a high ceiling. The wide open, spacious feel was really great with 12 people. We never felt crowded. We played lots of games and had quite a great time as a 3-generation family reuniting. No towel racks in the bathrooms was a bit of a surprise, but towels dried quickly out on the railing. The 2 decks wrap around the entire home. There is a lovely little pond with a gazebo that we utilized every day. Fishing, relaxing, catching up. We ate some meals out on the decks. Lots of seating. The beautiful scenery, gorgeous weather, and opportunities to go bird-watching or explore the 'neighborhood' made for a very relaxing vacation. The air conditioning was great on the more humid days. The rec room in the basement was a nice getaway for those who wanted to do puzzles, watch TV, read, or play pool. No internet in the home but wifi was available at the nearby community center. Our Verizon & Sprint phones worked in and around the house. T-Mobile did not have service at all. The community center's exercise equipment & shower were pretty nice and we did use that daily. We loved that there were places within 8-15 miles that had inner tube, kayak, and bike rentals. And grocery, ice cream, restaurants, & odd-item shopping was close by as well. The gated community and homes spaced far apart gave this rental a very private and secure feel. The owner was readily available by phone during our stay, and also before and after by email or facebook messaging. He answered our questions and worked with us very well to make sure things were going smoothly! We also met the groundskeepers - very friendly. This is a super-comfortable and lovely home, and all in all we were extremely happy with our choice of rental properties. We took lots of photos -- made great & lasting memories. We would recommend this rental and would love to return one day!"

  • Just what we needed...a serene, beautiful and fun getaway.

"When we arrived to a peaceful, lovely cabin my teenagers immediately decided that they didn't want to go out to dinner or escape to their cell phones. They explored the cabin, smokehouse loft, porches, fire pit and outdoor game area. The loft is definitely worth renting in addition to the cabin. It was perfect for our teenaged Daughter. We called it the Princess Castle. If she didn't sleep there my Husband and I would have definitely taken it over. During family dinners in the cabin and chats by the fire outside we reconnected - away from our city life. The farm and animals are adorable and well loved. Our hosts couldn't have been more gracious, responsive, caring and welcoming without being intrusive. We were pleasantly surprised by the town of West Jefferson which had great restaurants and quaint shops. If it's open don't miss the Farmer's Market! Also not to be missed on the farm...the short hike up to the lookout deck where you can see all of the way to Virgina. It's breathtaking. Everyone in our family asked that we stay here again. That's rare. My friends and I are interested in having a girls' weekend sometime soon. If you're looking for a quiet respite, a romantic getaway, a place where you can have uninterrupted family time or a location for you and your children to run and explore this is it."
