  • The house was very clean and very well appointed.

"This was by far the nicest home rental that we have ever experienced. The house has so many different spaces which easily allow family members private time for reading or playing a guitar on the enclosed porch. This house is truly a gem and most definitely lives up to the Million Dollar View! The house is so well appointed, clean, and well cared for. The owners have everything well organized and truly care about their guests. We cannot wait to return next year and hopefully for years to come. Five stars!!!"

  • Girls Wilderness Getaway Success!

"This was a last minute rental for a bachelorette getaway that was a bit off the beaten path. The cabin turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. The drive up the mountain was a little intimidating for 8 Florida girls in a minivan, but if we were able to make it - anyone can. When we arrived we were extremely pleased to find that the cabin was exactly as described on HomeAway. It was well kept, clean, and cozy. It was secluded enough to feel very private, but not too far from the comforts of home. The cabin has a full kitchen - fridge, microwave, oven, toaster, and dishwasher. Although WiFi was available, we had a really hard time getting and staying connected. Our cell reception was also quite limited. Margene did leave a phone number for their internet provider, but we took this opportunity to stay 'unplugged' for the weekend and just enjoy our surroundings. We enjoyed the wonderful views from the patio every morning and evening. The tranquil and relaxing atmosphere was a nice (and welcomed) change of pace from our regular routines. We were even lucky enough to see a few family of deer, chipmunks, rabbits, and hummingbirds. Our group found plenty of things to do within just half an hour to an hour from the cabin: hiking, zip lining, rafting, shopping, and even an amusement park. There is literally something for everyone. We're giving this cabin a 5 star rating because it was everything we wanted and more. Margene was easily reachable whenever we had a question, the cabin was great, and the surrounding areas were awesome. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, the Owls Roost is the place for you."

  • Beautiful View! Awesome Area!

"I wanted to take my wife somewhere special for her birthday and this placed offered breathtaking views and a beautiful and very spacious cabin. This place is very well maintained. Very welcoming as they had cookies and chocolates waiting for you when you arrive. They had a really nice shuffleboard table, hot tub and were stocked with a ton of board games and movies for the evening times. We had such a great time! Gary and Joanie are the nicest people and were extremely accommodating."

  • Excellent Stay!

"The Cozy Cabin is a true gem!!! It was perfectly tidy upon check-in, and allowed for an amazing stay! My family of 4 (2 boys ages 13 and 3 plus mom and dad) stayed here for just under a week and had a fabulous time! Location - Really can't think of a better location!!! The cabin itself is secluded and so peaceful...with AMAZING views! The community is adorable and has everything that one could possibly want! We enjoyed the pool, the playground swings, the basketball goal, and the nature trail (which is a former ski slope and pretty neat to see!). I walked from the cabin down to the river each day and enjoyed what felt like a peaceful rainforest! I'm from Florida, but have never seen so much lush flora in all of my life. I also encountered a few wild bunnies out on their morning stroll too! The neighborhood is just lovely! (So much so that we are looking to buy in the area!!!) The cabin is close to EVERYTHING that you would want to do in the area. We went to Grandfather Mtn, Linnville Falls, Linnville Caverns, Tweetsie Railroad, and even took a drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway to Mt. Mitchell (about a 2 hr drive, but WORTH it! We packed a picnic lunch and stopped at one of the overlooks!) There is so much to do that we have a whole list of things for our next visit! The Cabin - the views from the deck are simply stunning! The furnishings and finishes are updated and clean. The beds are super comfortable, and the kitchen is fully stocked! We ate all of our meals at the cabin (except for some picnic lunches - which I highly recommend!). We spent the days exploring and then came back to the cabin and enjoyed our evening meal on the beautiful deck! We stayed out on the deck until nearly 10pm each night - it stays light out in the summers for quite awhile!!! There is no central AC in the cabin (window units in both bedrooms downstairs) and it was still very comfortable! We were there July 2-7th and never had an issue with feeling warm!!!!! (BTW...we saw TONS of fireworks from the deck during the July 4th holiday!!!) The only thing missing from the cabin was maybe a pitcher (for making lemonade or tea), but literally everything that we needed (minus a pitcher - which was no big deal) was there! The grocery store was only minutes away!!! There are several amazing restaurants in the area (according to friends and Tripadvisor), but we didn't eat out at all. We did order take out from The Pedalin Pig one night, and it was pretty terrific! Excellent Stay, overall!"
