  • The perfect rental

"Beautiful home with an amazing views of chimney rock! The home was more than I'd imagined and stocked very well including movies, books and all cooking utensils. An added bonus were the canoe and kayaks. Our girls spent hours on the lake in them (every size life jacket available as well). The home was very clean, the only possible negatives are the basement stairs which are quite steep and a hole in the dock to be careful of. Overall a perfect vacation rental for our family!"

  • Price Family

"We've lost track of how many summers we've visited Papa Bob's Cabin! We thoroughly enjoy it each time we come. It is so peaceful and quiet. The views are spectacular, and the sun setting over the mountains can be breathtaking. And Papa Bob's gives a front row seat to watch! We love the beauty of nature all around us, and it's always interesting to see what wildlife we see on each trip! There is enough shade to sit on the dock for a good part of the day, for those of us who don't like to bake in the sun! It's pleasantly cool and relaxing. Our family fishes and explores Lake Lure in the kayaks, canoe, and paddleboat. Chimney Rock is close by.....a must see! There are several good restaurants.....we really enjoy La Strada. And Riverside Riding Stables offers fun trail rides (cash only!). The kitchen in the cabin is well stocked, and the cabin is always clean and neat when we arrive. Tom and Jenny are very personable and do all they can to make sure our stay is comfortable. We keep saying we need to visit on a fall weekend to see the leaves! We highly recommend Papa Bob's Cabin as a vacation spot!"

  • First family (summer) vacation in the mountains

"Our family typically vacations at the beach in the summer and long weekend getaways in the mountains. However, this year we decided to change things up and have our summer vacation in the NC mountains. We have 2 children, a 9 yr old daughter & 7 yr old son. This makes our 3rd trip to Chimney Rock but our first time staying in Crimson Cottage. From the online reservation, I knew the upstairs game room would be a hit with the kids (and it was!). They loved having their own space and lots of games. I can't say enough good things about the cabin. It is spacious and feels like home. Plenty of hot water and A/C works great. It's nice that we could wash clothes in their modern W/D. The beds were very comfy and the location is fantastic. We loved being able to walk over the bridge and into town in less than 30 seconds! One of the kids' favorite things to do was take their shoes off and climb on the rocks at the River Walk in town. It's free entertainment for them and nice for dad and I to relax while they are exploring and enjoying the outdoors. We grilled out one night with the grill provided and had planned on making a fire in the pit to roast marshmallows but it was so very hot that we decided that would be a better thing to do in the fall. We had dinner our first night at Old Rock Cafe (we'd been there before). My husband had a cheeseburger and the rest of the week kept thinking about going back for another one, so we did on another night. We enjoy the outdoor seating and friendly staff at Old Rock. The management company was very professional, kind, and accommodating. We would love to stay at Crimson Cottage again the future. If you're researching and wondering if this cabin would be a good fit for your family, believe me, it is!"

  • Perfect Get Away

"My family and I enjoyed our stay at Elysium. The cabin was clean and well kept. The river down front was perfect for the kids during our down time. Everything in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock is very easily accessible from the cabin. Perfect location! The owners are great people to rent from."
