  • Amazing views! You'll love it (but come prepared)

"My girlfriend and I booked this property for a romantic getaway to enjoy the fall foliage and apple season in Black Mountain. This property delivers, believe me. The fall colors and the sounds of the wind rustling through the leaves will melt years of stress off of you. You can see from Hendersonville to Black Mountain and have a private deck with no sign of anyone around (you might possibly be able to see the road below in the winter, not sure, but it's still a spectacular view). It was very windy the first night we arrived so the deck was great for brief excursions more than sitting in relaxing (the wind can really rip through the gorge!), but the view from the living room is just as good and when the wind dies down the deck is hard to beat. You don't need to go anywhere else during your trip to have an amazing time. A couple notes of caution - the property (at the time of this writing) is for sale and because of that I think they've cleared out some of the things you typically find in cabin rentals. There are plenty of pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc but there are *NO* pantry staples at all. Make sure you bring everything you need the first night (cooking oil, paper towels, sugar, spices, charcoal for the grill, wood for the outdoor fire pit) as well as any OTC meds and bath soap (there was only hand soap available). It also appears many of the board games have been removed from downstairs so prepare if you have easily bored kiddos. If not you may have to make a 30 min trek back into town for essentials (I doubt domino's delivers). If you follow this advice you won't have a care in the world! Thanks for sharing such a great property with us!"

  • Solitude is truly the perfect name for this cabin.

"On Aug 22, 2016, Terri, We had such a good time. Hope you found everything ok. Loved the little church across from us. Felt humbled thinking about how humble this little community had to be. Went over to the church Sunday morning. Such a blessing. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. The cabin was everything you said it was. Easy to find. Loved sitting on the porch reading. So peaceful. Took a short walk on the road behind the church and saw some bear tracks. That was exciting. God Bless and look forward to visiting again Shirley Floyd Galivants Ferry, SC"

  • Excellent home and renter!

"My family and I chose to spend a weekend in the mountains instead of just a day like we had done in the past. We are so thankful we found this home! Everything was super nice and the kids (grown and child lol) loved the game room! We had plenty of board games to choose from along with the air hockey table and the billiard table downstairs. We decided playing Scrabble was going to be a tradition! The home was convenient to the apple farms (which are on the main road coming off of the interstate to the house), Hendersonville (where we shopped and ate dinner), to Starbucks!!, and to several antique malls. We accidentally took one set of the keys to the house with us and the owner was super sweet about it. She generously allowed us to mail them back instead of taking it out of our deposit. Dorothy was so very easy to communicate with and she kept us updated on everything nicely talking with us on the phone several times before our arrival. One of the highlights of the home was waking up on Sunday morning and listening to the church bells play with the colored leaves in the background! This is a house you must rent!"

  • Charming and quaint country cottage.

"The accommodations were great and everything we needed was there. The only thing I would have liked to have had was a Keurig coffee maker, as I was the only one who likes flavored coffee. They did have a large drip coffee maker though. The place was very clean and the owner takes pride in caring for the property. It is in a nice little neighborhood in which you could take a 20 minute morning or evening stroll and view the mountains. It is also close to downtown Hendersonville. I would definitely recommend the Sonshine Cottage as a nice place to stay."
