  • Very nice and well-appointed cabin

"We enjoyed our stay, the cabin was very comfortable, and the kitchen well-appointed. The owner was very responsive to any issues. The cabin is convenient to TIEC. Located in a very nice neighborhood."

  • Excellent Stay!

"The Cozy Cabin is a true gem!!! It was perfectly tidy upon check-in, and allowed for an amazing stay! My family of 4 (2 boys ages 13 and 3 plus mom and dad) stayed here for just under a week and had a fabulous time! Location - Really can't think of a better location!!! The cabin itself is secluded and so peaceful...with AMAZING views! The community is adorable and has everything that one could possibly want! We enjoyed the pool, the playground swings, the basketball goal, and the nature trail (which is a former ski slope and pretty neat to see!). I walked from the cabin down to the river each day and enjoyed what felt like a peaceful rainforest! I'm from Florida, but have never seen so much lush flora in all of my life. I also encountered a few wild bunnies out on their morning stroll too! The neighborhood is just lovely! (So much so that we are looking to buy in the area!!!) The cabin is close to EVERYTHING that you would want to do in the area. We went to Grandfather Mtn, Linnville Falls, Linnville Caverns, Tweetsie Railroad, and even took a drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway to Mt. Mitchell (about a 2 hr drive, but WORTH it! We packed a picnic lunch and stopped at one of the overlooks!) There is so much to do that we have a whole list of things for our next visit! The Cabin - the views from the deck are simply stunning! The furnishings and finishes are updated and clean. The beds are super comfortable, and the kitchen is fully stocked! We ate all of our meals at the cabin (except for some picnic lunches - which I highly recommend!). We spent the days exploring and then came back to the cabin and enjoyed our evening meal on the beautiful deck! We stayed out on the deck until nearly 10pm each night - it stays light out in the summers for quite awhile!!! There is no central AC in the cabin (window units in both bedrooms downstairs) and it was still very comfortable! We were there July 2-7th and never had an issue with feeling warm!!!!! (BTW...we saw TONS of fireworks from the deck during the July 4th holiday!!!) The only thing missing from the cabin was maybe a pitcher (for making lemonade or tea), but literally everything that we needed (minus a pitcher - which was no big deal) was there! The grocery store was only minutes away!!! There are several amazing restaurants in the area (according to friends and Tripadvisor), but we didn't eat out at all. We did order take out from The Pedalin Pig one night, and it was pretty terrific! Excellent Stay, overall!"

  • PEACEFUL, SECLUDED AND QUIET…AND SOME THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

"This cabin in the woods is secluded, quiet and cozy. The owner has done a nice job of upgrading and modernizing with flat screen TVs, a decent number of channels, strong WiFi, upgraded kitchen, new appliances (including washer/dryer) and a nicely remodeled loft area which serves as a second bedroom. The location is great, almost equidistant to Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk. Nearby are hiking trails, proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Julian Price Park and Bass Lake. The kitchen is well equipped and we appreciated the owner making available many of the basics that you forget about bringing. The owner was very responsive and easy to work with. The house is advertised as “pet friendly,” and we can attest to that by some dog hairs found here and there throughout the house. Whether this feature is attractive to you depends, obviously, on whether or not you want to bring a pet along. So there are many good features of this house, but there are some things to be aware of. As mentioned, the owner has done a nice job of modernizing, but it is an older house, and along with that comes conditions that typically affect aging properties: dripping faucets, small bathrooms with limited counter space, no vent fans, and a musty odor in the back bedroom if the house is closed up. There is no central air conditioning. There is a window unit that is adequate for the living room and dining area, but not sufficient to cool the bedrooms. For the most part, this is not a problem because of the cool mountain temperatures and the shaded location of the house. But it can get humid in the area and if you like sleeping in really cold bedrooms, this could be an issue Other things you need to know: the location is great, BUT, the house is located off a gravel road about 1-2 miles from the nearest paved road. It is a good gravel road, but it is still winding and unpaved which may or may not bother you. Also, endeavor to arrive at the house before sunset, because, although the directions are good, the house is not particularly easy to find. So what’s the bottom line? If you want a modern, glitzy property with magnificent vistas, look elsewhere. If you want a private, secluded, comfortable and quiet cabin in the woods, this is the place for you."

  • Wonderful, cozy, clean and comfortable cabin!

"We stayed in Coral's Spirit of the Mountain retreat over Thanksgiving for 4 nights with a 16 year old girl and 13 year old boy. The layout of the cabin is very comfortable in that we all had our "own space" but were together the whole time. Our daughter loved the room upstairs, all to herself and our son loved the game room downstairs with his half bath and futon and pool table that we all enjoyed nightly. We enjoyed the gas fire in the living room daily and the kitchen had everything we needed by way of tools and pans to make our meals. Coral met us on the first evening and was very gracious even after we were gone, when she mailed us my daughter's jeans that had been left in the dryer! The cabin was very clean and well kept. We were careful to follow the garbage rules since there can be bears in the forest and everything was provided to make our stay easy, including extra trash bags, paper towels, soap, dishwasher detergent, etc. The location of the cabin is fantastic. It's very very close to Brevard, which is the cutest little town. The nearest grocery and Walmart are only minutes away and the proximity to both Dupont State Forest and the Pisgah National Forest is amazing. We were minutes from countless, fabulous hikes. Although the cabin is at the top of the mountain, it's still very accessible. We've stayed in some, where the road up was gravel, narrow and so steep that these flat-land-Floridians got nervous going up at night. This cabin has very good access and although steep, a very nice safe road with no traffic. I have already recommended this cabin to a friend. Do not hesitate to book it. You will enjoy your stay at the top of this mountain. :)"
