  • Great family Vacation!

"With our growing family of adult children and now grandchildren we are thrilled to discover this house. The beach with its sandy floor and gradual slope was perfect for all--especially the youngest ones among us (17 mo and 2) who loved wading in the water. We also loved having access to the paddle boards and kayaks. (Another perk -- life preservers for about every age). We found the kitchen to be very well stocked. (Who knew a Belgian waffle maker could be such a hit?!) We loved having a large table for those special moments when everyone sits down for a meal together or gathers for some games...but the house is generously spacious enough for people to be able to retreat to their own spaces when they need to get away from things. Ping-pong! Three TV's. Rocking chairs on the porch that swivel! Terri, the manager, was a wonderful person with whom to work---prompt in her responses and helpful in every way. We rented their pontoon boat for several days and found it a wonderful addition to our vacation. Suffice it to say...we'll be back!"

  • Great cabin

"This cabin was all we had hoped for and more. Two very comfortable bedrooms, two common areas, a large bathroom, fantastic kitchen, screened porch and a front porch. My father enjoyed the fire pit even though it was summer. It was nice to have the washer and dryer to use in preparation for the next week of vacation. The air conditioners were good to have when the weather was hot. The river access did not allow us to put in our kayaks but only because the river was low and our kayaks are not plastic. Otherwise, we could have easily put in there. We did take advantage of all the put-in places on Lake James for our kayaks but my favorite was the Hidden Cove boat launch area. The neighborhood dog was so sweet! He checked on us every day and liked everyone. There is a good movie selection in the cabin, games and puzzles. There is a porch swing on the screened porch that was very enjoyable. This is a great cabin, good location with friendly neighbors. We had two cars and plenty of parking."

  • Large Group Getaway

"The Highlander Cabin was a great getaway location for my family. Between my husband and me and our 5 adult children, the house served us well in size, location, and activities for us to do together or alone. Because of our size, it was important for us to have a house that allowed everyone his/her own space, but also afforded us an area that we all could come together to eat and/or play games, etc. It was also nice to be able to cook on the premises vs going out every night since we had a budget by which to abide. The surrounding area offered many day trips, too. We will definitely look forward to returning to the Highlander in the near future!"

  • Great 4th Weekend!

"Our weekend with another family was fabulous! Theresa provided excellent directs to the cabin as well as a list of fireworks events, closest grocery stores, etc. The cabin was clean and spacious enough for 9 people to not be on top of each other. We all loved the lake and pool area. You can tell the community is well taken care of! We will definitely return for a repeat visit!"
