  • We thoroughly enjoyed Lookout Lodge!

"The views from anywhere is this home were amazing! I was only looking for a rocker or a swing on a mountainside porch and this home had both. It had everything that we needed, definitely well supplied. Perfect. Our family was on a much needed retreat and we were able to rest, revive and renew. Everyone voiced that the choice of this home was a good one and that they wanted to come back. A week later and we are praying that this home and the others of Lake Lure/Chimney Rock have not been harmed by the wildfires that are raging."

  • Had a great time in Lake Lure & Asheville

"First of all, working with VRBO/Emily was super easy--she was very responsive to queries, and her information about arrival was helpful and accurate. For the most part, the cabin was as expected. It looked just like the pictures, and was very clean; however, the deck needs a little attention, and the kitchen cupboards are getting a little shabby. As others mentioned, it was well-stocked, with games, movies, kitchen utensils, towels, bedding; in fact, it was so well-stocked, that there was very little room in the cabinets, drawers or closets for personal items. (For example, out of 5 drawers in the Master BR dresser, 2 had blankets in them, which left 3 for my husband and me to share.) We often moved/consolidated things so that we could have some space for our groceries and personal effects. We were hoping for a cabin with a fire pit, but instead brought a portable one along with a few lawn chairs, which did the trick. We were there 6 days/5 nights--very nice that we didn't have to rent for a whole week--and ended up in Asheville 3 times, which is well-worth the drive. Overall, its quiet setting is great, as well as its location, close to fun activities (boat rentals, beach, zip lining, hiking), a grocery store and Larkins, a great little restaurant on the lake; and it's very comfortable, offering great space for relaxing and unwinding--beds were very comfortable, too! Would definitely recommend, and return."

  • Beautiful New Log Cabin, Great Amenties in Clean Home, But nearby home construction traffic

"The Winding River House is a beautiful & nicely decorated log cabin with all the indoor amenities you would want aside from TV & Internet! This home was very clean, plenty of linens, nicely furnished, kids play area/ loft was a plus! Kitchen has many appliances & state of the art! The surrounding homes Are in construction which made for less privacy & many times parking issues. The backyard stairs down to the river led to dry river beds but across the entrance drive onto the home's street was a small lake area the kids fish & swim at. The only negative on this home really was a plumbing issue that led us to leave the property early as there was no water or toilet use. It was told to be an initial build "issue" with the home that they were working to rectify once we left. The lack of tv & Internet was in the end a plus to escape our technological world. The home is close proximity to most activities around the lake. We would definitely consider this home in the future pending the nearby construction completion. BEAUTIFUL CABIN WITH GREAT AMENTITIES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. Clean & Up to Date!!"

  • Great house in NC Mountains near Lake Lure

"Roomy cabin with three floors that comfortably sleeps up to 14 (our party of 9 had plenty of room), with all amenities that you'd likely want/need, hot tub and pool table were the highlights for our group (and the DirecTV/wireless), deck areas would have been well used had the weather been better during our stay, access to the Rumbling Bald Resort is nice but we stayed at the house the entire time"
