  • loved the little cabin

"Everything was very nice only thing is the TV was really small and picture was fuzzy. If I hadn't gotten sick and had to stay in the room then we wouldn't have even noticed the TV at all. Everything else was lovely in the Bluebird cabin. We will definitely stay again in the future."

  • Wonderful experience at this Lake Lure cottage!!

"Our week spent at this Lake Lure cottage was perfect in every way. Larry was a wonderful host and promptly answered all questions we had prior to our arrival. When we arrived we were so happy to see the beautiful private property. It has a comfy front porch and a huge back patio with a gigantic fire pit. There was firewood left to use and beautiful lights are strung over the patio. Pretty magical! The inside of the cottage has comfy seating and lots of themed cabin decorations. The kitchen is large enough for families to gather, cook together and eat in. We loved the vintage feel and yet there were lots of modern conveniences like air conditioning, washer and dryer, dishwasher and microwave. Larry was able to provide us with passes to a resort just a mile down the road. We found Rumbling Bald to be a wonderful family resort. There is a beautiful lake beach, swimming pools, put put golf , hiking trails and a full golf course. We loved it! This area is full of beautiful mountain day trips. Chimney Rock is very near and the 1 hour drive to Asheville has winery and brewery stops along the way. We Had a wonderful experience in every way and after only one day we were all talking about how much we wanted this cottage to be an annual trip! Thanks for all your kindness Larry."

  • Exceptional Modern Home...With Some "Bugs"

"We rented this home for a small family wedding, about 20 family members. The home is so spacious, and the architecture was incredible! The furnishings were minimal and did not fit with the modern look of the home. There was also not enough outdoor furniture on the balconies, and what was there was incredibly dirty and unusable. The home could use a serious furniture update to complement the architecture! However, there was plenty of room for our family to stay, and the views were incredible! It is mentioned in the description, but be prepared to hike to the dock. LONG way down! No parking is available by the dock so you do have to walk to it. You can rent the boat and take it out on the water, which I highly recommend. Beautiful lake and views! The kitchen is huge and able to accommodate a serious cook. We hired a private chef, and she was able to cook a dinner for 20 people easily! There is nothing stocked other than some old pyrex and pots/pans, so be prepared to shop for everything from food to spices to roasting pans. Some issues did arise during our stay. There was a broken picture frame hanging on the wall near the entrance when we arrived. Also, the interior of the home was dirty and infested with stink bugs. We called the management company, and they said there is nothing they could do as "it's stink bug season and every home on the lake is infested." We had family staying just down the street, and their home was stink bug-free. They did give us a free night there for the stink bug issue, but a better pest control company might fix the problem. Hated finding stink bugs in our suitcases when we arrived home. There were many spider webs and both alive and dead bugs throughout the exterior and interior of the home. We also had a sink leaking water upstairs, which was fixed promptly. The management company was very nice and responsive, fixing most issues in a very timely manner. Just wish the home had more upkeep. It is a large and expensive home, and the upkeep might just be too much for the owners and the management company. Overall, I would recommend this property for family reunions or get-togethers, as long as the management company fixes the bug issue! Was a huge disappointment to host our family there for a special weekend, only to have them find bugs crawling in their rooms. The property needs upkeep and a decor facelift, and then it would be PERFECT! The management company is what increased the star-rating for us. Very nice people!!"
