  • Lake Lure Family Retreat

"Our extended family of 10 spent 4 nights in this Lake Lure house. Very comfortable, everything we needed. Great layout with downstairs suite. Lots of space for 3 families to spread out and 2 kitchens. We made good use of the extra fridge. The kitchen is very well stocked with all utensils, pots, pans etc one would need. The house sits practically on the lake, something we learned to appreciate after touring the lake and seeing the walk downs a lot of homes have. Nice sitting area on the dock, shaded and a fan. Swimming was awesome for the kids/adults. Bring noodles but they supply a number of floatables. Can't beat this for a big group."

  • A little piece of Heaven!

"We arrived in the Old Fort area on a very warm Saturday morning. Started to reconsider going to North Carolina mid summer, glad we came. The mountain home was AMAZING! It was definitely cooler up top. The house was spotless with more amenities than mentioned in the HomeAway website. In fact, there was nothing lacking for what we were cooking or during leisure. The house was already cooled when we arrived. The view from the deck was beautiful whether it was sunrise, watching a storm go across the valley below, or watch the sunset! There was the cutest nook off the spare room with a lovely stone wall and gnome watching your every move. The landscaping of this area was extremely inviting. The decks had plenty of space with outdoor furniture for lounging or dining. We used the gas grill hard and had a much better view than any restaurant in the area. Places we enjoyed while there: Of course we loved the relaxed atmosphere at Phil's Bar-B-Que Pit. We did a Paddle board tour in Asheville area of the French Broad River. This was booked with Kyle of Mauii SUP (stand up paddleboarding). Kyle was amazing with his patience for helping us succeed. And the Biltmore Mansion is well worth going to. Go early as the crowd assembles early and there is a lot to see. The gardens rival our local Longwood Gardens. The Blue Ridge Parkway was also amazing. We went to Little Switzerland for a lovely dinner overseeing the valley below. All in all it was a fairly central location for all that we chose to do. Lynne made sure we had detailed instructions for everything from locating the home to how to manage everything in the home. We could not have asked for anything more!"

  • The Perfect Setting For a Weekend Away

"I cannot write enough positive things about our amazing weekend at Almost Heaven. It was just the perfect setting for our girls getaway weekend--- so beautiful and peaceful. That VIEW! We couldn't get over it. It will take your breath away every time. Annette was SO wonderful in her communication, clear directions, and suggestions of things to see and do in the area. It is an intense (but kind of fun!) drive up the mountain roads to the home, but certainly doable, even though all of us just had front-wheel drive. Definitely recommend trying to get there in daylight if you can -- it's easier to find! But also know that the trek up the mountain is worth it for that view! Also definitely recommend doing your grocery shopping in your hometown or before you get the cabin and packing a cooler --- bring food and just stay put at the cabin. It would be quite a journey to have to "run to the store" for a small thing. We did get to explore Black Mountain for lunch (about 20-25 min drive) and enjoyed that! Also appreciated the suggested to check out Standing Rock Falls within the Gateway Mountain premises; it was lovely! The home was so accommodating and comfortable. We had 8 women staying, and all had a bed spot and plenty of space! We ate every meal and drank coffee/wine out on the amazing back deck. We watched the sunset and watch storms roll by. Once night came, we saw more stars than us city dwellers ever get to see--even some shooting stars! To say we had a great time is kind of an understatement. It was kind of perfect! .My only wish is that we could have stayed longer!!! Trying to see if I can now get my extended family to take a trip up to the mountains next year...might have to use this home again:) A beautiful rental, and one of the best VRBO home's I've ever stayed in. Highly recommend! Thank you to the Morgans for sharing their home!"

  • Church Ladies Retreat

"Wonderful weekend. All 30 of our ladies had a wonderful, relaxing time. Our theme this year was "Got Stress? Get Hope". This beautiful, peaceful, private setting provided everything we could ask for and more. We enjoyed our morning session on the huge deck surrounded by God's beauty. The great room accommodated our evening sessions and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for all of us. A few of our ladies have limited mobility and having 3 bedrooms and bathrooms on the main level along with the ramp to get in and out of the house and deck allowed them to be able to participate in all of our activities. We had several young newcomers who took advantage of tubing the creek and the hot tub. Some went shopping and dining in nearby Black Mountain. Others hiked the beautiful Catawba Falls. The private drive into the lodge was a little intimidating but everyone made it. Everyone hopes that we can come back again. Special thanks to Lana for being so helpful and the little extra touches she left to welcome us."
