  • The Perfect Setting For a Weekend Away

"I cannot write enough positive things about our amazing weekend at Almost Heaven. It was just the perfect setting for our girls getaway weekend--- so beautiful and peaceful. That VIEW! We couldn't get over it. It will take your breath away every time. Annette was SO wonderful in her communication, clear directions, and suggestions of things to see and do in the area. It is an intense (but kind of fun!) drive up the mountain roads to the home, but certainly doable, even though all of us just had front-wheel drive. Definitely recommend trying to get there in daylight if you can -- it's easier to find! But also know that the trek up the mountain is worth it for that view! Also definitely recommend doing your grocery shopping in your hometown or before you get the cabin and packing a cooler --- bring food and just stay put at the cabin. It would be quite a journey to have to "run to the store" for a small thing. We did get to explore Black Mountain for lunch (about 20-25 min drive) and enjoyed that! Also appreciated the suggested to check out Standing Rock Falls within the Gateway Mountain premises; it was lovely! The home was so accommodating and comfortable. We had 8 women staying, and all had a bed spot and plenty of space! We ate every meal and drank coffee/wine out on the amazing back deck. We watched the sunset and watch storms roll by. Once night came, we saw more stars than us city dwellers ever get to see--even some shooting stars! To say we had a great time is kind of an understatement. It was kind of perfect! .My only wish is that we could have stayed longer!!! Trying to see if I can now get my extended family to take a trip up to the mountains next year...might have to use this home again:) A beautiful rental, and one of the best VRBO home's I've ever stayed in. Highly recommend! Thank you to the Morgans for sharing their home!"

  • Outstanding property and gracious owners.

"This log cabin located on the slope of a soft hill is extremely comfortable and has all the modern amenities required to make you feel at home (well stocked kitchen, very well appointed bathrooms and bedrooms, central heating, gas barbecue grill); and yet it has wonderful decorating touches throughout the house that remind you of the beautiful nature setting outside . It is within a gated community but your privacy is never compromised since homes are situated well apart and vegetation is lush. This is one of those instances where you get a good feeling from the published photos, but the reality is way better than what you might expect. The cabin is located within a short driving distance to supermarkets and gas stations, and close by the beautiful small town of Rutherfordton, where you'll find restaurants and cafes. Also a short drive to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure; even if you are not planning on going up the park, Chimney Rock Village and a stroll on Rocky Road Riverwalk is worth the trip. Asheville is about 40 minutes away if you want to visit their many breweries and distilleries, or crave faster paced entertainment. I can't speak high enough of the owner Mike, always at the ready to answer any question I had, and showing genuine concern for myself and my family's safety when a rare winter storm hit the area. Once again Mike, thank you for everything you did, and I hope we can stay at your cabin again in the future. I highly recommend this place for anybody wanting to feel at home away from home."

  • Very Nice Cabin

"Just returned from a girls' weekend getaway at Cabin in the Pines. We found everything to be as described. Lake Lure area is beautiful, too. Owners are easy to reach, nice to work with and very helpful with any questions. This would be a great place for anyone visiting the area and is very affordable."

  • Christmas at Lake Lure

"We rented the home to have a Christmas with our grown children who now live in GA and SC. We loved the outdoor fireplace at night and the shuffle board table downstairs created excellent evening fun. The Home is beautiful, the pictures are exactly as you will find the home. The kitchen and living area was great for family meals and we built Gingerbread houses at the large dining room table. We drove into Chimney rock and enjoyed the town as well as the curvy drive into Asheville one day. A very spacious home and great quality. I would give it a "five star" but the week we were there the lake had been lowered 10 ft. for Dam repairs so we (as well as the rest of the lake properties) had virtually no lake access... I was hoping to Kayak and fish. But that was the only drawback and there is no way the owners can control that."
