  • Very nice, clean, and well equipped

"Our family had a wonderful time staying here. The cabin was great and the Cane river is just at the end of the road where you can fish and swim and even swing from a rope into the river. Burnsville is a great little town with some cool shops. The Blind Squirrel is a legit restaurant and brewery. The coffee shop in town, Appalachian Java, makes a killer iced Americano. The Carolina Hemlocks are about 30 minutes away where you can jump off rocks into a cold natural swimming hole or tube down the river. We spent a whole day there picnicking and swimming. We drove about an hour and half southwest and enjoyed some amazing swimming holes and waterfalls. Loved it."

  • Good place for family reunion

"My large family stayed at this home and really enjoyed our time. Gorgeous views, spacious rooms for hanging out, and the house has several different levels, so kids can sleep in one section while adults are playing games and laughing in another. Liviu is really good with communication and always responds quickly to messages. That is a huge plus in my opinion. Pros: Big kitchens TONS of natural light Big outdoor deck with a metal fence Great view of mountains/golf course Quiet, peaceful environment A study and reading room for reflection or reading Lots of DVDs and some books Two kitchens on different levels, so food prep can happen quickly I have to nitpick to say negative things, and each guest has certain things that they care about or prefer, so these things may not even be an issue for other guests. Cons: -Steep sloped driveway (which can't be helped due to the terrain) may be scary for some drivers and difficult for unskilled manual transmission drivers -The steep roads driving up the mountain to the house were very taxing for 4-cylinder Camrys with even light cargo/few passengers, so we had to leave a few cars at the base of the mountain and use the SUVs for a few extra trips to ferry people up and down -The wifi was very inconsistent and not enough for internet usage, so computers/netflix/facebook/etc... were not an option. This house and location are a place you definitely would want to visit to get away from computers and the busyness of everyday life, but since a few of us are self-employed we were unable to do any of our admin/business upkeep work at the house and had to drive approx. 25 mins. for internet access. The mountains also blocked AT&T phone reception, so several of us were completely and hopelessly off the grid while at the house. Again, being in the home and away from everything was great and I treasure the memories we made at this beautiful place, but it was difficult to keep current with potential clients and work emergencies and such. -I think our family was one of the larger groups that have stayed here and so we used all the towels that were at the house. There is a good washer/dryer and laundry is no problem, but you may consider bringing a few extra towels is you have 15+ people in your party. -The bathrooms didn't have shower curtains, so shower water splashed onto the floor. That may be a European architectural thing, but it just necessitated an extra towel on the floor to catch that splashing"

  • Rustic and furnished well.

"31 days in the cool mountain air. Great stay, great places to visit. Mt Mitchell State Park was spectacular. Enjoyed several waterfalls. Nothing compared to waking up to 60 degree weather in July."

  • Shall return

"We use VRBO on a regular basis and have stayed in numerous properties. This villa ranks among the top! Well-appointed, very clean, and, as others have pointed out, beautiful long-range mountain views. Beds were very comfortable, Wifi fast and dependable, and cell service great. Kitchen compact but very functional and well-stocked. The Mountain Air community is beautiful with steep but easily managed drive from main gate to condo located literally at the summit. Peaceful and private with plenty to do in Mountain Air as well as surrounding area. Everyone we met in Mountain Air, both staff and residents, was very friendly and helpful. Katherine was very helpful and accommodating. Making the rental process a pleasure. We normally do not return to a property, as we like to explore new locations. But think we shall make an exception with this wonderful villa!"
