  • Mr. Beehunkus and Bumpies

"Wonderful property. Well furnished and decorated with quaint, heartwarming items. I'm pretty much the caveman, so the decor didn't make a difference to me . However, the ladies dig that stuff. Momma's happy...everybody's happy, right? My very athletic active dog had plenty of room to chase discs and interact peacefully with the gentle animals that make this their home. Three stories and multiple rooms to nestle into. Located near all our favorite high country locales. The owners take great pride in keeping Mountain Magic truly just that...we both found this vacation week magical."

  • Mountain House Roan Mountain

"Watching the valley come to life as the lights come on in the evening is magical! Sitting on a beautiful deck on the top of a mountain is so relaxing. This house is theme decorated. Every detail is covered..The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need. The house sleeps 10 to 12 so it is a good place for friends and family to gather. The area is close to the Appalachian Trail so if adventure is on your thing this house has it covered. I have also been here is the spring for the Rhododendron Festival. Beautiful. I love the mountain house and look forward to my return visit."

  • Lovely mountaintop escape, beautiful view

"We wanted to escape the world for a few days to get away from work and life and stay in a quaint little cabin on a mountain top with a beautiful view to enjoy, and that's just what we got. Sitting on a mountain top and enjoying a beautiful fall view is my bliss. The owners were easy to work with, the cabin was lovely, we brought along our food and our Roku and while we had PLANS to explore around the area, we really didn't leave once we'd arrived, we were having such a good time relaxing at the cabin! The cabin has wifi and you can use your Netflix or other online channel accounts through their Internet-channel-enabled Blu Ray Player. We hooked up our Roku so we didn't have to sign into all of our accounts in a new place, it worked fine, albeit a bit slow. Internet speed at the cabin was SLOW, like half a megabit per second slow (I usually get ~100 at home with Time Warner Cable's mid range speed package), BUT surprisingly while it took Netflix a little longer to load up a stream to watch, it never interrupted it to buffer it once it got going (the same can't be said for my connection at home!), so it was good enough for our needs. We did a little exploring up the trail from the cabin - be forewarned that it is steep and rough terrain, with a lot of switchbacks to get you up to the mountain ridge, but if you're a mountain hiker kind of person, you'll enjoy! Getting up to the cabin on the narrow gravel road was a little challenging, but nothing our Buick sedan couldn't handle. The view from the deck was delightful and we spent a lot of time just sitting out on the deck and enjoying the view. We were only a few minutes from town (with 2 full grocery stores and other amenities), but with the cooler of food and supplies we brought, we didn't have to go anyplace once we arrived - it was a completely private and WONDERFUL escape! As other reviewers have mentioned, the stairs to the loft bedroom are precarious and narrow and steep, but it's a lovely bedroom, with more room around the bed than the one downstairs. Since there were just two of us we enjoyed time in both. The couch was so comfy it put us to sleep snuggled up each night before we made it to bed. Rest and relaxation was in order before this trip and we sure got it!"

  • beautiful, amazing home

"Our family just returned from a three night stay at Go Fish, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The house is beautiful- to be honest, the pictures shown on VRBO simply do not do it justice! I own a housecleaning company, so my standards for "clean" are high, and this house met or exceeded my expectations for cleanliness. The views from the front porches are beautiful, and the house is very well maintained. The built-in gates by the stairs on the huge second level porch were perfect for our pets, who were able to spend time outdoors without venturing off unattended. Our family will definitely return to visit this beautiful, quiet home in the future. The only downside to our trip was that our trip was too short- we should have taken a full week here. I'd recommend this house in a heartbeat, and we look forward to returning to Go Fish in the future!"
