  • Comfortable accommodations with a beautiful view.

"Enjoyed my stay in this 2/2 condo. The furnishings were comfortable and the kitchen had everything I needed. Be aware that the mattresses are quite firm, which was good for me. The facility amenities were as advertised. The owners were very responsive and provided all the needed information. The one key criticism was that the TV listings showed approximately 50 - 60 cable channels, but the TV's only delivered the basic 10, similar to having an antenna. However, a compensating factor is the huge movie collection (400+ titles, from early 2000's to 2013). The only other disappointment was that renters cannot park next to the building, even when there are spaces available. The facility has shuttle service to the parking lots a little lower on the mountain, and the guard at the gate is very quick to alert the shuttle when you pull in the lot. However, it is still a bit inconvenient to make the transfer from your vehicle to the shuttle for the short ride to the building--especially when you have stuff to carry. This is not a concern when first arriving or leaving. You can park briefly by the main entrance to load and unload your vehicle and take your luggage to the condo. For anyone who does not think these two criticisms are a big deal, then I would recommend staying here. The views are wonderful, and at this elevation (5100 feet), the air is cool and fresh!"

  • Fabulous view from Sugar Mountain

"My husband and I stayed for a week at this wonderful mountain retreat. We were looking for a place in the mountains with a view, privacy and elevation. At 4700 feet, the temperature never went above 76 degrees during the day, in mid August. The view of the mountains from the spacious deck, and particularly from the private balcony outside the master bedroom, was fabulous. A perfect place to beat the heat! We enjoyed dining on the deck at the picnic table every single night. The location was great - close to grocery stores, dining, shopping, and a fairly short drive to Banner Elk, Linville, Beech Mountain and Blowing Rock. We will definitely come back again."

  • Wahoo and Tar Heel

"My wife and I stayed here for a month in August 2016, and we could have stayed forever. The unobstructed view from the roomy rear deck is wonderful----no buildings, just a grassy meadow and the mountains. Walking about was a delight, as everyone was friendly and there was a mix of ages and geographic residences. The condo has an appealing and comfortable high-country atmosphere; the kitchen was well equipped with all one needs to whip up a meal or brew a cup of coffee. The rooms are clean and well-cared for. There are endless places to hike both around the condo, and the immediate surroundings. Banner Elk has wonderful restaurants with a cuisine for all palates. Finally, the owners are very customer oriented; we had a slight internet problem with the router, but the next day the technician from the provider arrived and installed a new router. Problem solved, customer happy! This is a wonderful home, lovingly cared for by Rob and Cathy. Highly recommended for all."
