  • A quaint little getaway in the NC mountains

"We rented this property to celebrate Christmas as a family, including my wife, kids, and parents. It turned out to be a great choice! The cabin is more spacious than it appears on the website. The basement has an entire bedroom, 2 bathrooms, and games and TVs, so my parents were able to treat it as a separate apartment when necessary, and my kids had fun playing pool and foosball. Upstairs, we found everything we needed. The kitchen was reasonably stocked, the fireplace worked well, and there were plenty of beds, couches, etc. There are multiple washer/dryers for laundry, an abundance of bathrooms, etc. We particularly liked the huge dining room table. We had several meals all together and also worked on several puzzles, crafts, etc. There are literally TVs in every room, so no shortage of entertainment. As for the view, I'm sure it would have been great if the weather had cooperated. It was cloudy and rainy for our entire stay, so we didn't see much of anything besides clouds. But we were certainly high enough to imagine some great skylines. One of my favorite finds was a 2-mile single-track trail that connects to the Appalachian trail. This just about 1/2 mile from the cabin. A few considerations for potential guests: Location - The cabin is at the top of a 2-mile stretch of very steep, narrow road. It ends at a VERY steep driveway up to the cabin. Having now been, I wouldn't even consider driving to this cabin in winter time without a 4-wheel drive vehicle. And in icey or snow conditions, I still might not try it. Even with good traction, the constant climbing pushed our poor loaded-down mini-van to the limit. Also, the closest grocery store is almost 30 minutes away. So consider buying groceries on the way, or plan enough time after arrival. Internet - The wifi was easy to connect to and worked well enough, but it was pretty slow and spotty compared to what most of us are used to. I wouldn't be able to work remotely from this location, for example. Don't come for the pool table - It was fun for the kids, but needs to be resurfaced, balanced, and all the queues need to be repaired. Directions - The owners provided specific directions for the last couple miles of the drive. We chose to rely on our GPS, which was a mistake. It took us on a very roundabout path through a lot of mud. Follow the directions provided :) Overall, this property wasn't perfect but exceeded my expectations."

  • Restful and Peaceful Moments

"My family came to Wolf Laurel for a Wedding in the middle of the week. We just needed space and time to wind down from preparations, and from the big event. The cabin was perfect. The time was quiet and restful. We were able to recharge ourselves before a long drive home. The time we spent together was as much fun as the wedding. Just talking, cooking and enjoying some much needed reconnect time. The kitchen was full of anything we needed. My Grandson enjoyed the complete movie selection. My husband was happy with the comfy beds. I was glad to be with my family, in a space that was comfortable. So, normally we are "Beach People" and that is mostly how we spend our vacation dollars, but we will be making some adjustments to include some mountain trips and I am hopeful that we will return to this cabin. The owner was very helpful and was great with follow up via email and cell phone. So I must say a big Thank you for my time in your beautiful home. For Rest and Peaceful Moments."

  • Snowy mountain getaway

"Our group had a wonderful time. The cabin is perfect setting for a couple or family. The views were nice especially since it was snowing. The drive in was a little out of the way, but all worth it. Plenty of space and everything you need! Chris was so kind and always responded, even gave us suggestions for local dining or nearby adventures. We would definitely recommend if you are looking for a cabin getaway."

  • A Beautiful Getaway!

"I want to thank Leslie and Tim for allowing my wife and I to use their cabin as our honeymoon getaway! It was the best experience and we enjoyed every minute of it! From the views, to the spa bath and double showers, everything was top notch! They provided us with so many amenities and all with a special personal touch. We cannot wait for the next time we need a mountain getaway! Thank you Leslie and Tim for an amazing honeymoon."
