  • Fabulous cabin!

"My family greatly enjoyed our stay at this cabin! The décor was homey and rustic - very comfortable. The back deck was spectacular, and the views of the creek couldn't be beat! At night, all you could hear was the sound of the waterfall. Perfect! Also, very conveniently located. Wonderful visit!"

  • Wonderful, Relaxing Week on the Mountainside!

"Cheryl and I were pleased from every aspect. The home was great. It was clean, comfortable and modern. Yet it fit well with the mountain surroundings. We were gone most days but spent most evenings and mornings on the expansive deck enjoying a coffee or glass of wine. When we did decide to prepare food, we found everything we needed to do so and never had to call for a problem. Our only recommendation would be to arrive during daylight if possible because fog is a potential and this is a forest/mountain retreat! We enjoyed the mountain hiking and many water falls as well as the town of Blowing Rock. We've used VRBO on numerous occasions now and find this a worthy choice! E. S."

  • Authentic Log Cabin w/ Lots of Amenities

"My husband and I enjoyed our stay tremendously. The cabin is decorated so appropriately. The kitchen is totally equipped w/ modern appliances and plenty of dishes, etc. The wi-fi worked fine all week. Lots of towels provided, plus many toiletries. The apple tree was in full bloom, so we went home with a nice bag of apples. The front porch is nice- offers privacy and peaceful sounds of the creek across the street. The nearby town of West Jefferson was full of nice people. We really liked it. Not far from Boone. This cabin has so much to offer. Thankful the Carrs are willing to share it with others."

  • The Best!!!

"My SO and I were trying to escape the awful summer heat in the Sandhills. We found the perfect place for 3 weeks. I will try to list briefly all the pluses I gave to this Grandfather Mt. condo. in Echota. 1. Ground level---no lugging up and down stairs. 2.This condo was like being in our own home. Perfect decor for this mountain retreat. Great mattress (we have encountered some bummers.) Towels and linens were VG .All the needed condiments and more were provided and made our shopping easier. Two TVs. And having 2 bathrooms was really a luxury. Immaculate !!! 3. Our very favorite part of this condo was the deck. Comfortable and great place to have morning coffee or evening wine.Lovely peaceful view. Very little noise pollution. 4.2 pools and a fitness room. I used the indoor pool frequently---great pool. The outdoor pool is located in an absolutely grand spot. The view is awesome. The Echota clubhouse is also beautiful. 5. My SO not only hiked one of the Grandfather Mt. trails, he had the good fortune to join a bird watching group at the Community Park in Valle Crueses. 6. Dining in Banner Elk and Blowing Rock was good. There are many wineries in the area. Heard good things about them. If we visit this area again, we will go in July. The 2 local colleges have many offerings in concerts, theatre, etc. but shut down in August. Our landlord, Hutch, was very helpful when we needed him. I have already recommended this lovely vacation spot to our friends."
