  • Clean and Convenient

"Sugarloaf Hideaway was perfect. Myself and three colleagues were in town for business, and this is exactly what we were looking for! The property was well situated within walking distance to not only our place of business, but other restaurants. Though we didn't spend much time inside due to work schedule, every evening was spent on the porch overlooking the water - it was a perfect end to five 16 hour days in a row! We will be staying here again upon return. You won't regret staying at Sugarloaf Hideaway."

  • Basic but cozy, great price & location!

"House is spacious for a 1 BR. Furniture dated, but comfy. It had all the basics plus location, nice linens, great management, quiet and peaceful. Great view from the dock. Easy to get to the beach (5 minutes drive... I actually walked...about 15 minutes walk.) I would definitely recommend if you are looking for basic accommodations at a great value price. I only wish the bed was a queen size."

  • Perfect Family Vacation!

"This is the perfect vacation spot for those with young children. My sons, who are 6 and 9 totally loved the water slide! It is fun for adults too! The close proximity of the Lorna Dune to the beach allowed for sunrise strolls and shell collecting. The condo was also well equipped with all the essentials for cooking our breakfast and lunch meals. We ate dinner out but noticed many people enjoying the use of the gas grills located near the indoor pool. Activities are endless! We enjoyed bike riding to the Fort Macon State Park which is directly next to A Place at the Beach. There is so much history there that we visited it twice during our stay. When you tire of the heat, the Maritime Museum in nearby Beaufort is a perfect place to cool off while learning about Blackbeard and maritime history. The Aquarium at Pine Knolls Shore is also a must visit. The aquarium is full of sea life but attention is also give to animals such as bees and snakes. There is an interactive area in the aquarium that allows visitors to touch the animals. Plus, there is an outdoor walking trail and play area at the end of the indoor tour. The final day of our vacation, we took a 45 minute boat ride with Island Express Ferry Service to climb the 207 steps of the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. The icing on the cake was the with 360º views from the top as far as the eye can see! Thanks to Victoria for the excellent communication and getting our vacation off to a stress free start by getting us into the condo earlier than the 3pm check in. We would definitely return to A Place at the Beach and the Lorna Dune condo!"

  • Wonderful View

"My husband and I just loved staying here. The views were wonderful and there was always something to look at with dolphins in the water and wild horses on the next island. The condo was very spacious and had a wonderful kitchen. We highly recommend staying here. TC"
