  • Nautical Buffs and Nature Lovers- This is the Place for You!

"Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I purposely sought out a place where I could relax and totally disconnect - the Whalehead Lifesaving Station proved to be exactly what I was looking for. This is the place where time stands still. The building is primitive and simple (only the bedrooms are air conditioned.) But little things make the difference - the delicious well water, the constant cool breeze over the dunes, the spectacular sunsets and sunrises seen from the tower, the boat room with its nautical memorabilia, the beach close by but far enough away to allow solitude, the wild horses that graze in the distance as you drink your morning coffee and the clearest night sky you will ever see. This is a place that is unlike any other. This is a place for adventurers, writers, readers, nature lovers and those that go with the flow."

  • Perfect for Some R&R

"This house is nestled in the dunes of a beautiful beach with amazing views and easy access to the beach. We spent a week alternating between walking or driving to the beach and staying at the house to enjoy the pool and hot tub. The house has all the amenities needed for a relaxing vacation and the weather was perfect. The horses came through the yard daily and we also saw dolphins during our stay. The various decks offer great views of the sunset and sunrise. As soon as we hit the beach portion of the drive to the house we felt more relaxed and when we arrived at the house we knew immediately we were going to have a great week. We are already looking forward to another visit!"

  • Perfect home in the perfect local

"My family (teens and preteens) stayed in August 2016 and loved it! The house is as advertised. Big, beautiful and in an awesome location. Sunrise and sunset from the same deck off the third floor. Wild horses roaming the yard. So convient to have all the chairs, coolers, boogie boards, surf boards, skim boards right here at the house. Load the truck up and drive onto the beach to find your perfect spot for the day. Easiest beach vacation ever!! I had one minor problem with the wifi password (user error) and Karen was so quick to respond. Great house to come together when you want and to hide in one of the many hang out spots when you don't!"

  • Wonderful Trip!

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a very nice week at Lightly Salted! The house was as expected, the updates to the living area are well appreciated. The kitchen is well-stocked, though a few new pans would be a good idea, the current ones have seen better days. There was a musty smell right when entering on ground floor (which consists only of a bathroom and entry area), but it did not permeate beyond that area (kind of wonder if past guests have cordoned wet dogs in there, that's what it smelled like), so no big deal to me. We had one small issue which was quickly remedied by Laura, who also provided us helpful answers to questions we had before arriving. We enjoyed trying out the sleep number beds, still discussing whether we want to go that way next time we replace ours. The only complaint we had (and this is in no way related to the house) was that a LOT of people bring their dogs to this area and seem to think just opening their doors at 7am and letting the dog run out to bark under other people's windows is a great idea. It was a really annoying issue coming from several surrounding houses. Otherwise though, it was a relatively peaceful location. The house is situated such that you have some privacy, and a great view! Not a day went by without a dolphin show right in front of the house. We were very excited to also see a whale one day. Horses visited the house one evening (that we saw), but we saw horses every day while driving around the area. I definitely recommend driving both the beach and the neighborhood roads, start with the fire station area if you're looking for the horses! We would rent Lightly Salted again if we returned to the area. Recommended Corolla restaurants: Pasquale's pizza, Mama Easley's (the burgers!), and Uncle Ike's!"
