  • Situated close to the ocean and the horses are spectacular.

"We had a wonderful stay at Breaking Wind. Everything was as stated by the owners and they were very helpful and considerate. The horses really do like to hang around the house. We were so close to the beach most of our family walked there every day and made trips back in the middle of the day. Hot tub was great! Having three full bathrooms was a treat. The location was perfect for us, about half way from the beginning of the beach to the end. Thank you for sharring your home!"

  • A Perfectly Appointed, Lovely Home

"I cannot say enough good things about Ocean's End. We had plenty of space to gather together, yet appreciated having our own space (and bathroom!). Kids loved the pool, it was very clean, and the variety of toys kept them entertained for hours. Everything was well maintained and the kitchen is nicely stocked with pots, pans and other tools."

  • Amazing place!!

"This house is amazing! We had kids ranging from 6 to 16 and they all had an amazing time. The owners were super easy to work with and answered all of my questions promptly. There were 14 of us total and we never felt like we were cramped or crowded. Everyone loved trying to catch crabs (in the pots and on the string) in the canal and fish. We never did catch enough to eat but we had a great time trying. The pool was always warm and the hot tub was an amazing end to the day. There were horses passing by on the road and in the yard daily. We also had several deer come through grazing as well. The location was great. It was on the canal but close enough to the beach that the older kids could walk back to the house or to the beach if they wanted to. We bought ice at the fire station daily.....I would advise to get there early as they run out every day. It was higher priced than at the stores on the main road but the money goes toward a great organization so we didn't mind paying for the convenience. Overall, this is a great home. I would highly recommend it! We all loved our time here and can't wait to return....hopefully for 2 weeks next time! Thanks for sharing your home with us!"

  • Our Great Adventure

"Our stay was wonderful and quite an experience with the beach driving. Something we will be talking about the rest of our lives. We are calling it our great adventure. My niece ended up coming over from Knotts Island on a boat she rented and it took her 10 minutes instead of 3 hrs by the time she would have gotten through traffic. We had my sisters from NC, SC and me from VA there. It was the prettiest part of the Outer Banks we have ever seen. I highly highly recommend the 4 wheel drive with a high base. One of the locals that live at Carova said he kept his air in his wheels on 15. And it was wonderful seeing the wild horses and listening to them play. We also got to see lots of porpoises in the morning. The cottage is real pretty and clean and suited our needs fine. We didn't realize we needed to call for propane which is for the grill outside, so look at the posting about that if you plan to cook out or take charcoal for the other grill that is provided. We just improvised on the stove and oven and it all turned out great."
