  • TOO RELAXING FOR WORDS. PERFECT BEACH HOUSE ON THE PERFECT BEACH!!!

"As a first time beach house renter, I scoured the internet for the perfect house in Carova for our family and friends. I figured there had to be a drawback to such a cool house at such a reasonable rental rate. There were none! (please don't raise the rates though) Our family is in the lumber business so there were many comments about how well the house was built. All the windows, trim and sliding doors are of well above rental quality. I hate a poorly functioning sliding door! I figure the owners are planning to kick out us renters one day and live in this beautiful location. The porches (wide and well stocked with chairs) were my favorite spot at the house. The swing and hammock on the shady second floor deck were perfect for afternoon reading or napping. The hot tub had a great view for star gazing. The breeze off the beach was always there to keep things cool, even in August. The beds were all comfy, washing the sheets that were there for us to use was not a big deal. The washer and dryer were both very efficient. The great room was super for meals. games and lounging. There were 8 of us there and we had too much space. It was great to have all of us able to sit at one table for supper. This house had all the cool extras that you usually only see in houses that are in the higher rent district! Kitchen was great. Like others have commented, there is every utensil that you could ever need there. We cooked every night and never left the whole week and were never once bored! The boats were a definite plus! We had a blast canoeing around the waterways. All the beach stuff in the closet makes this house perfect for folks that don't want to have to bring all that stuff with them. There is lots more toys and chairs there now than is in the rental picture. The outdoor shower was very nice, big and clean. The dogs loved this house too. They were good boys and stayed off the furniture and beds and really liked the baby gate that we used on the deck stairs so they could watch the horses in the yard w/o being tempted to chase them! A group of 5 horses visited us almost every day. Under house parking was good to keep trucks cool and to allow jeep to go naked all week. Best of all is the beautiful beach at this end of Carova!!! The sunrise and night sky here are nothing short of spectacular because of the lack of commercialization. The fire station is very close to get ice all week too. We loved this house and location and will be back! ps. owners were great too!"

  • Paradise

"The rental was clean, roomy with all the necessities. The top living room/kitchen floor has two sliding doors and huge windows to enjoy the ocean view and the grazing wild horses. We enjoyed coffee every morning sitting on the picnic table provided on the top deck watching the sun come up. Appliances in the kitchen were up-to-date and the dishwasher provided a break in the dish drudge. The master bedroom has a nice, firm king size mattress. Two full baths on the bedroom level were convenient along with the half bath on the living room floor. There is an outdoor shower on the bottom deck with cold and hot running water to shower after a day on the beach. The owner provided a hose hooked up to a faucet so the beach equipment could be washed off and the sand and salt spray could be cleaned off our Suburban. Take binoculars so you can watch the horses, beach activity, and the ships going to and from ports in Virginia. This place is quite, remote and wild and we loved it. We learned to time our going in and out of the beach to town at low tides since it's easier to travel on a hard packed beach. Pack all your basics before leaving or purchase them in Corolla. Food, toilet paper, paper towels, dish and laundry soap, and Ice, don't forget ice to pack in our coolers for the beach. We didn't do this thinking we would go to the house, unpack, and then return to town for supplies. Be sure to leave early enough to manage the tides and supplies. We arrived late, dark, and at high tide and didn't want to risk traveling back that night. We received a special treat when we first arrived on the beach. A small herd of about 8-10 wild horses were walking in front of us apparently heading in for the night. It was almost like they were welcoming us and escorting us to the house. Don't forget to lower your tire pressure to 18 psi before entering the beach. We saw many stuck in the sand that didn't. The beach was well patrolled by the Sheriff's Department on ATV's and the three we encountered were very helpful and friendly. Our only disappointment this vacation was we had to leave Friday, a day early due to tropical storm Hermie arriving on check out day Saturday. With predicted sustained winds of 65mph and tidal surges we concerned about getting off the beach at the time of Hermie's landfall. The owner was very helpful with tips and clear directions. We highly recommend this rental and plan to return again and again."

  • Serene and Private Location

"Enjoyed our week-long stay. The weather was beautiful and the beach was not too crowded. Excellent dog-friendly area -- we brought our two lovely dogs and they had a great time. They enjoyed a lot of freedom by frolicking in the water and had their share of admirers too! The home was cozy and delightful in a private and quiet location; walking distance to beach. It provided the perfect getaway. We will definitely return next year!"
