  • Great vacation home!

"Glory Days was an ideal home and set-up for our group of 11: 5 adults and 6 children. Lots of room to spread out. Lots of bed choices. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pans, utensils. Loved all the room and seating on the top floor. The home was VERY clean and comfortable. The amenities were great and were used a lot by our group! I appreciated the attention to detail...there was even a drying line above tub in master bath that I utilized. It was a quick walk to the beach and very short drive or bike ride to grocery. There were great shops and restaurants close by as well. Elan staff were friendly and easy to work with. We would stay here again and I would definitely recommend this property to others!"

  • Warm and inviting

"We just finished up an awesome week in Corolla at Wish You Were Home. From the moment we walked in we knew this was not your "normal" weekly rental. We were greeted with a clean and fresh smell, everything intentional placed and well appointed. There was not a speck of dust. Every detail was perfect. It is truly like walking into a Pottery Barn show room. The beds were extremely comfortable and the linens were soft and smelled super!! There is an abundance of towels (again fresh smelling) and wash cloths. I am a clean freak so I was beyond happy!!! The kitchen is well stocked with Calphalon pots and pans that were like new. So nice to cook fried eggs that didn't stick to the pans (which is mostly the case in rentals). I usually bring my own pans (lol), but I read folks comments and they mentioned the pans. There are all the spices you need (I love to cook and unnecesarily brought my own), tin foil, plasic wrap, trash bags, dishwashing liquid and detergent. The laundry room is clean and had several bottles of detergent and dryer sheets. The outdoor areas are large and welcoming. Our favorite deck being the top deck. We spent every night star gazing. Julie has put pillows on the outdoor chairs which adds a homey look and feel. Plenty of seating on the decks and around the pool. The pool is ginormous and in great condition. The outdoor shower area is the largest we've ever seen and very clean. The gas grill was a blessing!!!! no fighting with charcoal and Outbanks winds to get an open grill started. As far as beach stuff, everything you need provided!!! We were thankful for the rolling cart which made our short walk to the beach enjoyable. We also enjoyed morning bikes rides. Kudos to whomoever maintains the property when the owners are not there. The Owners clearly thought of everything, it was perfect!!! You literally just need to bring your clothes, a fun and happy attitude and relax at I Wish You Were Here."

  • Outer banks vacation

"We all truly enjoyed our stay at the Beachcomber beach house. This was one of the most beautiful, comfortable, clean places we have ever stayed. The amenities were top notch, clean, and plentiful. Kitchen amenities were the best. Loved cooking in your kitchen. Very well stocked with all utensils. Great location. Very close to the beach. The pool and hot tub were also very clean and nice size. Enjoyed all the outdoor areas on the decks as well as the pool area. Beds were so comfortable. The only thing I could recommend is more bath towels and washcloths, or at least let guests know to bring there own."

  • First vacation to the OBX

"This was our first trip to OBX, and I was happy to discover that the ocean water temp in Sept. is perfect for wading and swimming, IMO -- just watch out for rip currents. And the beaches after labor-day are dog-friendly and uncrowded. RE: the beach access, if you have a lot of gear, are elderly or have very young children, be aware that there is a very steep staircase you must climb to get over the dunes. You may want to drive to the nearby parking lots--one across from the lighthouse in Corolla or the one in Duck-- that have public restrooms and showers. It is much easier to get on the beach in those locations, since you have the option of avoiding steps. Overall my family, and our dogs, enjoyed our two week stay in this home. The beds were comfortable, having a full bathroom on each floor was convenient, and the location was walking distance to the beach and one mile from a shopping center that had restaurants, groceries and other stores, as well as a cinema. The furnishings and decor are dated and worn, but that is reflected in the price and so it was not an issue for us. The wifi worked fine, the appliances were old but functional, the pool and hottub were clean, the outdoor shower was handy, and even though we endured two days of torrential rain, this house did not leak or flood. What keeps me from giving this home 5 stars is that it needs a deep cleaning inside and out; and the carpeting that covers most of the home is stained, dirty and worn out in some places. Other than that, it is perfect for large families on a budget looking for a dog-friendly vacation home with a private pool that is walking distance to the beach.."
