  • The view from the dock is the jewel in the crown.

"This place is great for a large group. Plenty of room to spread out and hang out both inside and on the dock that extends into the river. Not many frills, but all the essentials are there and the view from the dock early morning and at night is a treat."

  • Cute Country Cabin Getaway!

"The cabin was like none I have her stayed in. It is well kept and clean. I loved the craftmanship of it. The bathroom picture didn't do it any just of how big and beautiful it is. I love how private it is. It is definitely a place to stay if you want a nice relaxing secluded stay. This cabin is a HGTV fantic's dream like we are. Myself, husband and baby girl loved our stay. Thank you Layden's!"

  • Fantastic host, Uncomfortable location

"Would have been 5 stars if it were in a different location. Denise is a fantastic host and the house is exactly like you see it in the photos. House was stocked with all necessities and in-fact Denise left a home-made banana bread and breakfast juice. Was perfect since our flight got in late and we drove for over 90 minutes to get here. The cork-board had all of the critical info about the area and "Doris and Roger's Kitchen" was a great suggestion for eating nearby. The area is very rural and that means lots of trucks moving farm goods at all times of the day and night... and they did. The most unfortunate part is that the house is 12 feet from the road... and we felt every truck rumble by all night long. This was very disappointing since the house was in such good shape, clean and welcoming. Last, and this isn't probably important to everyone, but I had planned to work from the house one of the days we stayed and the internet connection really made that almost impossible. Yes, the house has "wifi", but the internet connection was just barely faster than modems from 1999. My laptop registered 1 Mbps (yes, that *is* a one). Not a critical requirement for the house, but really that shouldn't be advertised as wireless broadband internet connectivity..."

  • Cozy cottage

"We spent three nights in this charming home for the Edenton Candlelight Homes Tour. My no.1 priority in rental property is cleanliness and The Hardison House is pristine! I was perfectly comfortable walking in my sock-feet on the beautiful hardwood floors. Comfy bed, fluffy towels, and a well stocked kitchen made for a delightful stay. The Christmas tree and window candles were a nice touch! Donna met us and gave us a tour of the home and some Edenton tips. We are low maintenance travelers so it was not necessary for us to contact her but knowing that we could and that she would promptly reply was reassuring. Don't hesitate to book The Hardison House!"
