  • Very Comfortable Base Camp

"We had a great time staying here, it feels like a home and not just a beach rental. It is comfortable and clean, and even though it's pet friendly it doesn't smell or feel "doggy" (we have 2 dogs and brought them with us so I say that with love ;) The furnishings are comfortable and the kitchen is very well stocked. The owners are super nice, very responsive, and very accommodating. The downstairs area is not so great for sleeping due to it being a converted garage space, but it's great for when the night owls need a space to go and hang out while upstairs people are sleeping :) The sound is right across the street with easy access for anything from a kayak to a big boat. The beaches along the coast are just fantastic. Frisco has a cool vibe, a nice mix of locals and things for tourists. Overall we had a stellar time and I'm really glad we found this spot! Thanks again!"

  • Our third visit

"We've rented Kapt'n Kelly's three times now and have always received prompt and helpful service from the manager; enjoyed a nice, comfy, well-appointed house; and had a good visit in the most pet-friendly accommodation we have rented. The house is nicely arranged, with living space and kitchen and a beautiful view of the sound from the upper deck, all upstairs. The bedrooms are downstairs and offer a quiet place to rest, read, and sleep. The decks are fabulous - the lower one that wraps around on three sides and allows access to the sound in back as well as including a large and well-furnished screen room; and the upper one off the living room that looks over the sound and gives you wonderful views of boats, fishing birds, and sunsets. The kitchen is well-appointed with good cookware, dishes, and appliances. The neighborhood is quiet and very well suited to walking dogs (we bring three). The bedrooms and bathrooms are nicely arranged, and the beds are comfortable. Linens are provided so all we had to bring were our bath and beach towels, which was a plus. Unlike several houses we have rented through realty agencies, this one (managed by Shore Details) came with a starter pack that included four rolls of toilet paper, one packet of dishwasher detergent, a small bottle of dish soap and a sponge/scrubber, and a roll of paper towels - so if you arrive later in the day, you are not having to stop and shop on the way for those essentials. We had a maintenance issue we needed resolved - we called Shore Details on Friday morning about it and it was taken care of within a few hours. They were so quiet and efficient that we did not even know they had come and gone. We've always had good service with the manager and were pleased with the service by the maintenance company. Our primary wish would be that there were screen doors on the sliders that lead to the two bedrooms that abut the screened porch because the screening on the porch is a bit worn and does not keep out the mosquitoes as well as it should (or the occasional squirrel!). So we could not sleep with the slider door open at night to enjoy the sea breezes or keep the slider open during the day when we were resting to enjoy the sounds of the soundside. The location is great - easy access to Buxton, Frisco, and Hatteras, and local attractions and resources like Orange Blossom, Conners, Equine Adventures, Dutch Bonnet, Billy Mitchell Airfield, Quarterdeck, beach access points, and many more."

  • Perfect retreat

"My son and I stayed here for 3 nights in mid March. We were just in town for a fishing trip. After the long drive and the long day of offshore fishing, it was definitely nice to come back to a place with a very homelike feel. It made it very easy to relax. We even got to cook some of our catch in the well furnished kitchen. Thank you for the much needed relaxation."

  • Excellent Week at Reel Fun

"The house and location were great for an excellent week at the Outer Banks. Had everything we needed, beds were very comfortable, and very easy process to check in and check out. We were very satisfied and will definitely consider renting this house again next year!"
