  • Luxury vacation rental at a reasonable price

"My husband and I had been looking for a "luxury" vacation rental option in the OBX, and found this charming studio suite. A HOME RUN! The studio is spacious, exceptionally clean, comfortable, and has all of the amenities needed for a relaxed week or weekend stay. We were there for the extended Thanksgiving weekend, and were very pleased. The location is convenient to everything and easy to find (3 blocks behind the Dunkin Donuts and Henry's Restaurant (MP 5.5), so you don't have to fight too much traffic after crossing the bridge into the OBX. The queen bed was very comfortable (firm but not too much). It's sitting somewhat tight against one wall, but not a big problem. Kitchen area is sufficient -- drip coffee maker & filters (bring your own coffee), toaster, BIG microwave. There's a dormitory-size fridge sitting on the floor (not so good for those of us with bad backs), but it works well and the 2 ice trays made plenty of ice for us (in November). There's a large dining table and 4 chairs outfitted with beachy aqua cushions and dishes (place settings for 4). The kitchen area includes a few coffee mugs, 2 wine glasses, and a few casual plastic cups. Basic but sufficient. Owners provided a roll of paper towels, dish detergent, a few cleaning supplies, and a couple more nice-to-have items. The bathroom is very spacious, and the shower is actually big enough for 2. There were a few extra rolls of bath tissue and a (new) box of tissues, along with an assortment of hotel-size soaps, etc. As instructed, we arrived with our own bedding (queen sheets, blanket, pillows, comforter) and our own towels, but saw that the owners had provided a selection of fluffy towels and washcloths in a cabinet in the bathroom. There's not a lot of shelf/sink/counter space in the bathroom for your toiletries, makeup, and "stuff". Living room area is separated from bedroom area by a folding panel screen, and has a cushy, sink-into-comfort full-size sofa and one of those curious-but-comfortable chair-and-a-half with a big ottoman -- perfect for reading and napping and TV. The 32-inch wall-mounted TV in the living room has cable and a reasonable selection of channels, but is NOT big enough (or angled) to watch while in bed. Bring your own DVD player & DVDs. No clocks anywhere (which may be a good thing!). Two outdoor adirondack-style chairs & a hammock-style hanging chair are on the patio outside the door. Overall, WELL worth the cost. We will return!"

  • Jay's nest egg is one you won't be ready to leave any time soon!

"I found Jay's next egg here on VRBO and decided to go with this property based on the location and all the positive reviews. It certainly lived up to expectations, and that was without even using the pool due to the chilly weather. :) The location is perfect. Most of the places I love down there for eating and hanging out were within 5 miles or so each way. American Pie for ice cream, 7-11 for morning coffee, Millers seafood, The Dunes and OBX brewing station. There is plenty of beach access and plenty of mini golf and other stuff to do as well. The condo itself is great as well. There were 4 of us and there was more than enough room. Everything in the place is beachy themed and current. (flatscreens, wifi, etc.) We brought our dog and she was comfy also. There is a small field right next to the condo to let your dog do their business, so very convenient. One covered parking spot and one uncovered, but you could probably get 2 cars in the covered space if they are not huge if inclement weather. The elevator is great for the pets too as well as getting everything unloaded from the car with minimal effort. The only bad thing I can say is I did not get to stay long enough. Sara is great to deal with and very accommodating. We even chose to cook at the condo the last night and it is outfitted with everything needed to cook a whole meal. I even got the pleasant surprise of finding a box fan in my closet to use for my much needed white noise at night. If you are looking for a great place to enjoy the beach, you can stop looking and go ahead and book. You'll be glad you did."
