  • Great home, Great vacation!

"We stayed at Freebird over the Easter weekend. The house was perfect for our needs. We had 2 families totaling 4 adults, 2 teens and 2 younger children. We had plenty of room to spread out but also felt very much together. The 2 decks both offered a wonderful view of the ocean and the covered lower level was much appreciated when packing up, since the rain held off until our last day there. The kitchen was well stocked with all the pots, pans and utensils you could hope for. There were board games and jigsaw puzzles. And our 11 year old wifi expert proclaimed the broadband to be the best ever! The house was very clean and the beds were all comfortable. Joy was so helpful in planning our stay and was even able to offer a shortcut to the beach, we were able to walk there in just a couple of minutes. This was an awesome stay and I cannot recommend this house enough. We will be back!"

  • Colorful

"We totally enjoyed Cabana Blue. It worked out perfectly. The location was great for walking to the beach. There were 8 Adults and 4 young children and everyone fit nicely. The youngsters really loved the game room. The outside shower is always a plus. The kitchen was pretty well equipped with everything we needed. Everyone loved the decks as well, especially in the morning to have coffee. Regardless of how hot it was, which was about 95 all week. The deck had a wonderful breeze and felt very cool. We definitely enjoyed our stay."

  • Wedding/Reunion Best Choice!!!

"We stayed here for a week with a small group of family and friends then more came in Thursday and Friday for a wedding on Friday evening. They had no qualms with us having a couple of dinners at the house for the whole group and the Days Inn next door (which manages the property) even let us park our overflow there. Another word about the Days Inn, having them next door as the go to made issues that pop up so EASY. Our wi-fi was acting up one morning and someone was right over to look at it. (turned out to be a problem with the DSL that was resolved before the guy got there) On our second to last morning one of the coffee pots died. I walked over, reported it, walked back went to my room for something and came out to being told "Someone just brought over a coffee pot." That's service! The house itself... Just look at the pictures. Every room was great. The master suite was fantastic. No neighbors. NO NEIGHBORS!!!! I had to find a place completely online from Phoenix, AZ so I looked at pictures, satellite imagery, reviews... anything I could get my hands on. Almost every place I looked at for this size, with these amenities and in this price range were all right on top of one another. This place has NO NEIGHBORS! And the public access next door wasn't a problem at all either. I had visions of John Candy eating breakfast in the movie Summer Rental with everyone looking in and asking to use his bathroom but we had nary a problem all week. I don't know when we will be back to the Outer Banks or with how many people but if the needs and circumstance ever are the same we would stay here again in a heartbeat!"

  • A very nice place!

"We were looking for something affordable, close to the beach on the Outer Banks - not so easy to find! We loved what previous people had to say about this rental - so we went. Christine and Mitch were wonderful hosts - even though the apartment was under them, they were not intrusive during our stay - very helpful when we arrived and told us about local places that were good. The apartment itself was beautifully decorated - loved the antiques and the beach touches! It was very clean and had beach supplies, fully stocked kitchen - even a little cooler to use for the beach! It was a lot larger than it looked in the pictures. The location was literally 1. 5 blocks from the beach - and the beach was fabulous! I was able to take some great sunrise pictures for my daughter's senior year photos. The beach was NOT overcrowded at all. There is, of course, some noise as you are below a residence - but it wasn't bad, as we kind of expected that. My only suggestion would be to replace the current deadbolt and door knob for the main entrance. It was tricky to get it to lock from the outside, and at night - I could only use the door knob lock, the deadbolt didn't work from the inside. As a single Mom traveling- that made me a little uncomfortable. Thanks so much for a fabulous trip! We loved the Outer Banks! We will be back! :)"
