  • GREAT PLACE TO STAY

"Wonderful and well-equipped home, close to everything in the OBX. While not large, it is more than adequate for two couples or a family of 4/5. The Kitchen is well-stocked and actually larger than shown in the pictures - actually, the the pictures do not do justice to this cute home. A very short walk from the house and you are at the sound, with a great pier and gazebo - plus entrance into the waters of the sound for swimming (though it might be a tad cold!). The OBX beaches are a short drive, along with plenty of place to eat and shop. And the hot tub is an added bonus! Will definitely be back and am recommending it to all of my friends!"

  • Iowan's celebrating Retirement in OBX

"Our family enjoyed such a special week at this cottage. The pictures and location are exactly how we found this cozy home, plus more! The weather was incredible all week. Larry and Katherine were so accommodating. Our grandchildren range from 1 yr to 17 yrs old and everyone was excited with this cottage, because it was so large, you could have your own space at any time. We can't wait to come back to eat Crab and enjoy the beach."

  • Beautiful Stay

"The cottage is adorable. While a sand dune blocks the view of the ocean, the view is not disappointing. I watched the sun rise every morning - which was absolutely beautiful. It was also nice to watch the pelican's fly over in the morning and the evening. The deck is a nice size and has 4 chairs and two side tables. The location is also peaceful and quiet. There was also plenty of parking. The inside of the cottage is very nice and tastefully decorated. The kitchen is well stocked and there are plenty of bath towels, hand towels, and face clothes on hand. There were 6 people in our group (me, my husband, and 4 young adults in their early 20's). Everyone loved that the cottage was beach front. The pool (which ranges from 3 ft to 9 ft) was also very popular especially in the evening. A couple of recommendations 1) installing at least one full length mirror (perhaps on the inside of the closet in the main living area); 2) having a stronger Wi-Fi connection (the connection was very weak and spotty - we all relied on our data plans) Great stay and nice staff over at the Days Inn."

"If you are looking for a home to make wonderful family memories, The Sunsetter is your vacation destination. I was fortunate to find this gem 5years ago, and have been renting since. Every year the owners do a wonderful job of either adding new additions or updating. We LOVED the new theater style chairs in the main living room area! The Sunsetter is perfectly located in Nags Head, you can choose to spend the day at the house lounging in the beautiful in-ground pool or you can hop across the highway to the beach access and play at the beach all day. The pool has a solar cover and it keeps the water warm and ready to dive in! The house is set back and the surroundings are quiet, perfect for early morning or late afternoon walk through the beautiful area. You are conveniently located to get to all the best stops and shops. Short drive to Duck Donuts at MP 8, Food Lion and Harris Teeter less than ten minutes down the road. We took a trip to Duck and Manteo during this past visit, and we were there in no time from the Sunsetter location. The new dining room table and the many amenities in the kitchen make the house perfect for cooking or getting food from the many close restaurants (Awful Arthur's, Chilli Peppers, Henrys, Seasalt Grill, Trio, Captain Frank's, Black Pelican, Spanky's) and bringing it back to the house and enjoying! You are also located right near the fishing pier, if you and the family want to spend a fun day on the pier. Great location also for family fun activities. Putt putt course, ice cream shops, fudge shops and wonderful shopping!!! There are also multiple decks to enjoy conversing or even enjoy a meal out on. The owners are wonderful and available at anytime during your visit, if you needed to contact them. My family and I have made many wonderful memories over the past 5 years at The Sunsetter, and we will continue to do so. Even though we were just there visit, we will be enjoying again in May! Thanks John and family for being so wonderful and helping us have amazing vacations at The Sunsetter."
