  • Clean and comfortable

"The property was exactly as pictured; the couch and bed were comfortable. The only negative is the walls are thin so you can hear the tenants on the first floor. Otherwise, a good stay."

  • COMFORTABLE

"The place was clean and comfortable and I loved the non-stick cookware that was provided. The VCR came in handy and so did the dvd player. I also enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The answer is a definite YES if i would consider staying there again."

  • It feels like home.

"This was our second stay at The Neva Midgett House, and after spending about nine hours on the road – we felt as though we had “come home” when we opened that front door and walked into the very welcome comfort within! It’s easy to see from the photos that this is a beautiful house with a wonderful front porch and, although January isn’t prime for porch sitting, it can be a month of surprising weather. We arrived when it was just barely above freezing, however within two days we were up in the low 60’s enjoying our vacation from the frozen northeast! Manteo is a perfect town – completely walk able (or bike able) from its lovely historic downtown, along the boardwalk by the waterfront, into Festival Park and even out past The Elizabethan Gardens. Although Nags Head's beaches are just minutes across the Washington Baum Bridge, we chose to go a little farther south and spent a few hours on Coquina Beach where we met some local fishermen launching their boat into the surf to set their nets for dogfish (AKA as cape shark) - and then were lucky enough to chat with two riders and their beautiful horses who’d come over from Wanchese. This is one of the great things about the area – you meet people who live there year round, not just tourists. Although our stay in Manteo was a short one, we were able to hit some of our favorite spots including the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge just over in Manns Harbor (about a 30 minute drive), Jeanette’s Pier (an 8 minute drive) to watch the wetsuit clad surfers and pelicans fly over…and then down across the Bonner Bridge to Pea Island where the migrating ducks and waterfowl were really out in full force! If you haven’t driven down there, it’s a must see during any time of year. I highly recommend late afternoon in order to walk out to the observation areas and catch the ducks and birds as they home in before sunset…where you might find yourself in awe as the sunset steals over the never-ending sky, reflecting off the North Pond. Staying at the Neva Midgett House once again offered us the comfort of feeling at home, having a real kitchen to cook in, yet being on vacation in a charming town. Must add that it’s a pleasure to walk everywhere – including to one of the best little restaurants in town, Ortega’z Southwestern Grill and wine bar just around the corner on Sir Walter Raleigh. We couldn’t have asked for a better winter break, and Sharon Watson knows how to make her guests feel very welcome."

  • #77 Village Landing was great.

"Really nice, clean house with a wonderful view. Good location that made easy access to Manteo and Nags Head. Relaxing mornings were wonderful looking over sound and at sunrise while sitting on deck with coffee. Would love to stay there again."
