  • Home Away from Home

"We have stayed at this property 5 times in the past 6 years so that should tell you what we think of this property. We live less than an hour away but staying here is so relaxing it makes us feel like we are hundreds of miles from home. Our main reason for staying here is the fishing. The Pamlico River is brackish water and we typically catch flounder, speckled trout, red drum and an occasional stripped bass in our electric trolling motor powered jon boat within a few hundred yards of the house. Crabbing off the pier is also fun and productive especially using a hand line and net. It provides endless hours of entertainment for children in addition to providing good table fare. During the heat of the day you can relax on the beach, cool off in the water or retreat into the well furnished house for a nap or good read. The nearby towns of Bath and Belhaven provide excellent choices to dine out. There are many other day trip destinations in the area including the Aurora Fossil Museum, Wright Brothers Memorial on the Outer Banks and several local ferries. The owners and local property managers are very helpful and easy to work with. We will continue to stay here and would recommend it to any one."

  • Great time for all!

"This was our second stay at The Boathouse. We really like the comfortable king size bed, the view, the Wi-Fi, the screened in back porch, kayaking, and playing ping pong. Everything is here to make meals and keep even older kids from being bored. Some things to do away from the property include visit the NC Estuarium. They also offer free riverboat rides if you have reservations. We learned about crabbing on the Pamlico. My son proceeded to catch one blue crab on North Creek right behind the house. We also took the ferry to Ocracoke and drove on the beach. We took a free ferry to Aurora and visited the Aurora Fossil museum. There you can dig outside for fossils. We found hundreds of shark teeth. Be prepared to stay a long time because it's addictive. From Aurora, you can drive to the free Minesottt beach ferry and take it to Cherry Point. From there you can drive to Atlantic Beach. The ferry rides are relaxing and something to do in itself. Goose Creek State Park is also a nice park with a swimming area that we enjoyed. Thank you for sharing your Boathouse with our family again."

  • Better than the Beach

"My family had been spending summer vacations at a family beach house, but when that wasn’t available this year, I remembered Maude’s house in Bath. This was a perfect opportunity to be right on the water without the hustle and bustle and the price of the beach in August. The entire five days we were there no one said, “I really wish we were at the beach”. The house is very comfortable, the view is breathtaking and when we were there the blue crabs were practically crawling out of the creek and into the bucket. Bath is a friendly town where everyone waves at everyone else, flounder sandwiches cost $5 and they roll up the sidewalks at 9pm. Bike into town and check out the oldest church in North Carolina or kayak across the creek to the Quarterdeck Mariana for that $5 flounder sandwich. There is plenty to do if you are ready to slow down and take it easy for a few days."

  • great place, plan on staying here again

"Me and co-worker stayed here for 2 days. Everything was great, only knock was no wire brush for the grill. We used tin foil to clean it up. Fast internet, sat tv, very comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed."
