  • Great vacation home with lots of space and a fabulous pool

"Our group included 4 adults, 2 college students and a high school student. The dining area had more than enough space and each of us could find our own place in the house to do as we pleased. The place was very clean and well-prepared when we arrived. The kitchen had everything needed and there was plenty of dishes and silverware for the 8 of us. While at the house, we saw plenty of wildlife - deer in the yard, a fox, squirrels playing every day on the top of the pool fence, and the animals my family call - ew - a snake and some chameleons (or lizards). The pool was fantastic and so was the hot tub. When we didn't go out to eat, the gas grill was great. Lots of furniture on the decks and plenty of furniture near the pool. There are 2 adult bikes and 4 or 5 kids bikes. We didn't make use of these, but there are many areas off the main roads to do some riding. Robb was VERY attentive to our questions and problems - the A/C service came and fixed a problem the same day we reported it to Robb. The walk to the beach was very easy (about 10 minutes) and the passes to park across the street from the beach entrance came in handy for pap pap. We learned the next to last day of our stay that there is a rinse station near the entrance to the Chicahauk trail parking lot. This was handy to rinse beach stuff and feet before getting into our vehicles. The place was less than 5 minutes from WalMart, Food Lion, Rite Aid, Home Depot and a Medical Center. And on Saturdays and Sundays when traffic gets bad on route 12 between Kitty Hawk and Duck, you can get to the house on the inland side via Juniper Dr and avoid the traffic. All of the neighbors we saw (most of which appeared to be full time residents) were very friendly too. We left our electric griddle in the kitchen and did not realize it for several days. I contacted Robb about it - he had the maid service confirm the griddle was still in the house and worked with our friends who are vacationing in the Outer Banks to let them in the house to get our griddle. Robb also offered to retrieve it and get it back to us later this year. Try getting that kind of service in a condo or hotel. If we come back to the Outer Banks in the future, we will definitely try to reserve this house again. Thanks Robb for the great vacation place and all of your assistance during our stay."

  • Hidden Gem!!!

"This home has everything you need. It is beautifully decorated and is very open and inviting. There is plenty of space and lots to enjoy. The pool and hot tub are great, fishing on the dock is a lot of fun, and just hanging out relaxing and enjoying all of the amenities this home has to offer is wonderful. If you feel the need to venture out, the location is perfect, it's close to everything. Can't say enough and can't wait to return. This is a rare find!"

  • Lovely Home, Great Owner

"We recently spent a week at Serene Dreams and could not have been more pleased. Throughout the entire process, Ron was wonderful to work with and very helpful! The home was lovely, well appointed, and clean upon arrival. Several times through the course of the week, we contacted Ron with a question, and he responded very quickly. This was by far our favorite place to stay while visiting the Outer Banks. How can you beat crabbing from the deck in the backyard?! The only negative for us was that the week flew by much too quickly! :-). We are definitely looking forward to staying in this lovely home again next year!"

  • Beautiful view, but avoid this property!

"I had to put 5 stars because if you notice nothing else shows up. I think all the reviews were written by the property owner because what people have written doesn't match the house. First the positives. This was a nice house but older. Needs lots of updates, but something I could look past. The view out the back was beautiful and it has a very nice dock. The pool was nice also. The area is nice and quiet and off the busy main road. We took nice jogs and walks. Also very short drive to the grocery store or Wal Mart to get things. The kayaks are nice. The negatives. The house has a musty smell. The sheets in the beds were stained and some even smelled. The hot tub didn't work properly and didn't stay hot. Someone came and worked on it half way through the week but the next day it didn't work again. One of the bathrooms is big and nice with a great shower. The other two are old and have water pressure problems. One is very tiny. Some of this stuff I could have look past but the owners can't be trusted. They said we checked out late when we left by 10 am. They then said we damaged a wall, which we didn't and they were not giving the deposit back until they got threatened with a lawyer. So over all you can and we have got a lot newer and nicer houses for the same or less money. Also the pictures that are shown are outdated. If it tells you anything, the small bushes around the pool are so big now you can't see the pool. Again, just my advice go someplace else."
