"We spent a week on Bald Head Island at Maggies Place. It was not right on the water but that was barely an inconvenience due to the water being only a couple hundred yards away and with the golf carts provided by the owner, it was real easy to get to. Maggies Place itself was great. It had everything we needed for our vacation. We were there with 4 adults and an 18 mon. old. The house was beautiful and spacious and had everything we needed from a well stocked Kitchen with plenty of pots, pans and silverware. It also had everything that was needed for the beach, from boggie boards, sand toys, umbrella's and fishing and crab catching equipment. It also had everything for the baby, from strollers to cribs to even a running stroller. Pretty much, you name it, it had it. They also had an abundance of Bicycles (although we ended up pretty much just using the golf carts for everything) They also had everything for a rainy day too (although our weather was perfect) from books to games to TV's with a multitude of channels. They also had 2 golf carts for our use as well which were in great shape. The Island only allows golf carts on the roads (other than service vehicles that would do deliveries and/or utility type vehicles and your occasional PD or FD vehicle) The golf carts could go just about anywhere on the island. We used ours to visit different beaches as well as trips to the stores, restaurants and Ferry. Richard (the owner) was phenomenal with information about the island as well, if there was anything we need for information or if there were issues at the house. One of the AC units had gone out before we arrived on the weekend but he made arrangements for a portable AC unit to be brought in and the repairman was in for the system, first thing Monday morning and took care of it right away. If I had a question, I could text or email him and he got right back to me with the information need. The beach near the house was on the West side of the island so the water was fairly calm which was great with the baby but the East side beaches were only about a 10-15 drive by golf cart through picturesque roads. This is were the waves were much bigger for boggie boarding or body surfing. None of the beaches were crowded at all. I think the highlight of our visit was watching the Bald Head Island Conservancy do a turtle nest excavation to count how many turtles had hatched. They also found live ones that were then let go. That was very cool to watch"
