"as regular visitors to holden beach since 1980, my family and i have been staying exclusively at king crab for a decade. it has become our comfortable home away from home. happily, we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. from the splendid screened-in oceanside porch to the fantastic downstairs 'rec room,' it is the perfect 4-bedroom abode for a family. it is decorated with a plethora of colorful seaside relics, including a vintage sailboat mast which is built into the ceiling of the airy main room. meanwhile, the legendary shark bedroom, featuring stuffed animals, posters and eye-catching 'jaws'-inspired artifacts, will induce smiles from the younger kids and, yes, fun-loving adults as well. the krab is perfectly situated with easy access to the both the hb pier and the bridge, yet far enough away from the action to experience some private moments. the pristine dune which frames the short walkway to the beach is well-established and covered with lovely regional flora. and the view of the blue atlantic is peerless, whether you're up early with a hot cup of joe and the 'brunswick beacon' or celebrating the twinkling wonder of dusk with your favorite cold beverage. yes, prepare for a coastal experience you'll never forget. as the day winds down, the family may reconvene downstairs for a ping-pong battle royale in the cool of the open-air playroom -- or not. My thing is simply to 'hang' in the comfy pauley's island hammock as the kids go at it -- and dream peaceful dreams. indeed, there's something for everyone. such is the magic of king crab."

  • Good week

"We loved the size and layout of the house and the location is wonderful. The beach area is large and not crowded. Outdoor shower was a hit, and the shower hose on the pier was really nice for sandy feet. Nice to have the marsh across the street to look at, and some of our boys took a hike through it. The kitchen is very well equipped for any kind of meal, we ate at the house every day and night. We had 4 children, ages 4 - 11 and there was plenty of room for all. The downstairs floor is made of non skid material which is great for an ocean front house. Loved that the 3 upstairs bedrooms faced the ocean and had a balcony. All rooms were clean. The only negative comments I have: we had a little trouble keeping the house cool. One day it reached 84 degrees inside. I realize that the constant opening of the door to the porch affects AC efficiency, we did our best to keep it closed, but it was difficult to bring the temp down a couple of days. The carpets in the downstairs rooms seemed a little musty from dampness, also difficult to control in a beach house. I would recommend the house, we had a great time."

  • Great Beach House

"This was our 4th stay at the Crowd Inn. Our family comes to Holden Beach every year. My grandchildren love the beach and my son goes on one of the Fishing Charters. It is a great home and the owners are great to work with. We love the big porch with all the rockers and the swing. It's just a few steps from the ocean. We plan to come again in 2017. Thanks again Warren for a great week."
