  • Great location and wonderful house!

"Best family vacation we've had in years! My family and I had a marvelous time staying at the "Grandview" for our summer vacation. The description of the house is quite accurate. There was ample room in the common area where we spent most of our time. The view from the master bedroom was beautiful. It's one of the few 2nd row homes in Surf City that has an unobstructed view of the ocean. We spent a lot of timeon the front balcony which had a great view of the ocean too. Also, there were plenty of indoor and outdoor toys for kids. Toys included: boogie boards, sand buckets, sand shovels, etc. All the appliances were fairly new and the furniture had that "beachy" vibe. The bunk beds in the kids room was a bit rickety but worked out fine. They do have a large collection of VHS tapes and a small collection of DVDs. Every bedroom came with a flat screen tv and either a DVD/VHS player or Satellite TV. Wifi was fast too! Topsail Island is the perfect place if you want a nice, relaxing vacation without a lot of tourism. We ate at a couple of the areas restaurants though they do get really busy during the dinner time hour. Restaurants that we tried: The Beach Bunny: this is a great place if you want a nice sandwich and fries. We were seated immediately with no wait. Daddy Mac's Beach Grille: tasty seafood fare; we arrived around 6pm and waited 45 minutes to be seated. The management company, Access Realty did a great job with customer service. They were friendly all the times I spoke with them and would answer emails within an hour of contact. I would definitely rent with them again."

  • Beautiful house

"We had a lovely time in your home. The home is beautiful and we loved the location. It accommodated all ten of us perfectly. We would love to come back to Surf City one day. It was really nice that it was directly on the ICW and within 2-3 blocks of the ocean. We were able to walk to the ocean everyday for a morning stroll. We ran into a few problems at the house such as the lights outside wouldn't turn on so when we got there, we had to unpack our belongings in the dark. There were curtains on the sliding doors in the bedrooms but no blinds on the rest of the windows. I could see directly into the neighbors kitchen because of this. Especially bad if you are on the third floor bedroom. We also didn't know we had to bring linens with us (bed sheets and blankets, towels, hand towels, an extra towel to step on after you take a shower, etc) until the owner contacted us to tell us. Good thing we were driving so we could fit everything into our car. I believe they offer linens at an extra cost. The second and third floor master suites had really squeaky beds. The third floor bed was the worst, it would squeak as soon as you would move. The washing machine had rust in it and we ended up finding a rusty nail and a penny which probably caused the rust, but the washer and dryer worked fine. The kitchen table is absolutely beautiful, but I would recommend leaving a tablecloth so people don't ruin the wood. If you stay in the first floor master, you can hear people walking on the second floor and you can hear when people are showering and flushing the toilet. The listing was accurately described regarding the location and layout. The property was very clean and somewhat maintained. We ran into a few problems other than the outside lights. The second floor master bathroom toilet handle stays down, so make sure you pull it back up so it stops running. The 3rd floor bathroom shower, the nozzle to turn the shower on came off when we turned the shower on and the towel rack fell off. The 2nd floor bed T bar in middle under bed was too high so the people lying on the bed roll to the ends of the bed, similar problem with 3rd floor. The owners were very responsive. They couldn't help with the outdoor lights but we were in constant contact. I would recommend this property if the few things were fixed. We went to the turtle sanctuary and the boardwalk area which was decorated for Christmas. We also went to Wilmington. We really enjoyed our time."

  • Great Location

"This home is everything you need to have a wonderful stay at the beach. The location couldn't be better. A few steps to the beach. Private and quiet. The deck is the best feature of the home. You will use it and enjoy it We enjoyed our stay very much. If you are traveling with a family you need to bring your own beach toys and equipment (chairs, umbrella, cooler, etc.). They didn't provide much of that. The pictures are a true representation of the property. While the decor is outdated it is well maintained for the most part. As with most of the rentals in the area you need to provide everything. Cleaning supplies, hand soap, tp, towels, sheets, blankets, etc. I do wish they left one roll of tp for guests as we drove quite a way to have nothing to use upon arrival until we went shopping."
