  • Annual Friend's Trip, March 2016

"Our group of best friends from High School all gather together every year for a reunion. Every year we use vrbo to find a house and this is the first year we opted for the lake rather than the mountains. I don't think we will be heading back to the mountains any time soon! This house is by far our favorite of all the houses we have yet to stay in. We had 5 couples so 10 adults and 7 children (aged from 8 years old to infant). There was so much space for us all that we didn't even use all the beds that were available. Each couple got their own room with the loft available for the older girls to slumber party together. Noise was not an issue in this house, with little ones running around early, the bedrooms downstairs are tucked away from the game room and tv and the walls are so thick, you hear nothing. The kitchen is very spacious and provides everything you need; we cooked all of our meals. Having the extra fridge downstairs provided lots of space for all the food and beverages we brought. There are three full bathrooms in the house, one is in the master bedroom and the other two are located so that anyone could use them, one upstairs and one downstairs. There are also two sets of washer and dryers in the house. The kids stayed on the dock all day fishing as it was still too cold to swim. Life jackets and chairs were available for us to use as well as a two kayaks and a canoe. The water is very deep at the dock, two lost fishing poles couldn't be retrieved by diving daddies. Our gifts to the house :) The driveway to the house was steep and gravel but the road in the neighborhood was perfect for stroller walks and bike rides. The only thing that could have made the trip better would be warmer weather and warmer water so we could boat, swim and enjoy laying out on the dock in the sunshine. We can't wait to return to this house in the summer time! Thank you to the wonderful owners who we feel like we know now through all the family photos in the house. It's been one week and we already got our damage deposit back! Thank you for the memories, Blue Herron Lodge!"

  • Great Family Vacation in a Wonderful Lakefront Home

"This beautiful home was a perfect spot for a getaway to Lake Gaston. The listing accurately describes the home...spacious, great views, well stocked...and it has amazing views of the main lake. The home is equipped with more than the listing tells and you will be comfortable here...and much more! Great deck space, nice dock and boat house and more than enough things for the kids to do to keep themselves entertained. For boating and fishing the home is in a great location on the upper end of the lake and right across the lake is the marina for gas. The owner was more than helpful in answering questions and quickly responsive to emails. We are already trying to figure out when to go back! Thanks so very much!"

  • Best Lake Gaston Vacation Home in 9 years

"We have been enjoying the lake for the last 9 years. Timberlane has been the best. Plenty of parking for cars and trailers, deep water at dock with several waverunner lifts, provided kayaks, a covered boat slip and a large dock area provided with nice furniture nd umbrellas. The sleeping arrangements were very comfortable and flexible for our family make-up. Everyone agreed, this was the best overall home we have rented for our needs. My wife still wants to buy it if it ever comes available!!!!! Thank You!!"

  • 5 STARS for this Amazing House!!

"We are a large group of several families that vacation together every year. We have stayed in large houses in the Outer Banks and once before at Lake Gaston. Out of all our rentals, this house on Osprey Point is our favorite. The owners were wonderful to work with. Their attention to detail, knowledge of the area and easily accessible by phone or text was very helpful. The home is well maintained, clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen was stocked with everything you can think of and talk about beautiful, high end appliances and granite everywhere. Each bathroom had loads of soaps and shampoos. The towels were soft and luxurious and plenty of them. The beds were very comfortable. Large couches and side chairs made the living room comfortable for the adults. The kids had their own rec area downstairs with a pool table, Xbox, DirectTV, and dozens of family fun games in a massive wall cabinet. When you walk out onto the huge deck you have a fantastic view of the lake. Early mornings with a cup of coffee sitting at one of the tables watching the sun shimmer of the water is breathtaking. Walk down to the boathouse and up the circular staircase to the upper deck you get a full view of Poe Creek. As our kids have grown into teenagers they love all the activity the lake has to offer. The location on the lake and the amenities of this home kept them busy from the moment we arrived. We brought a boat and several Seadoos and there was plenty of dock to tie them up and pull the boat into boathouse on the lift. There were several kayaks, a paddle board, and a huge trampoline. The kids loved to jump off the upper deck of the boathouse into the deep water to see who could make the biggest splash or touch the bottom. The skiing, wake boarding, wake surfing and tubing on the boat and Seadoos was fantastic in the protected creek that kept the waves under control when the main lake was rough. There were several evenings when everyone loaded up on all the power toys and road out to goat island to play in the water and watch the gorgeous sunsets over the main lake. Our vacation was a 10 out of 10. Great friends, great house, sunny 85 degree low humidity days and water temps in the low 80s made for an amazing vacation and memories that will last a lifetime. If you rent this home you will not be disappointed."
