  • Beautiful home

"This home is beautiful and so clean and organized. We enjoyed the tranquility of the woods, yet, you are close enough to Murphy, 10 minutes, when you need to run into town. My dog even had a doggie door on the screened porch to get in and out of to use the bathroom. These are great owners to work with. They respond quickly and make sure you are going to be comfortable at their home."

  • Beautiful Chalet and Beautiful Views

"The chalet was just as beautiful as described and was well furnished, clean, and met all expectations. The home was decorated for the season as a Christmas tree was up and decorated with additional holiday decor. The rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable with enough extra blankets and pillows. The owner's were very responsive, helpful and kind. We loved the quiet getaway but still had the luxuries of phone, internet, and any modern day item. We enjoyed shopping in Murphy and would like to mention Parson's Pub as a must place to eat as well as Shoe Booties. Both restaurants are one of a kind and excellent. The only concern we had was the drive from the gated entrance (1.3 miles) up to the Chalet was very steep and winding. The driveway was also very steep so we parked at the bottom and walked up. I would suggest arriving during the daylight hours to avoid the possible fog that could sweep in especially being unfamiliar with the curvy road. The walks around the property and up the street were peaceful and quite enjoyable. A very serene, calm, and peaceful getaway."

  • Peaceful unspoiled

"My group of friends & I (seven total) stayed at Emory Lodge. We found the lodge to be exactly as described. The natural setting outside the lodge with the stream running though the property was amazing. Inside & out we found the place to be maintained quite well. ( I. amagine this property rents out often.) As mention my group had seven, factoring in that the lodge can sleep upto 12, its layed out quite well. We had plenty of room. there is a large master bedroom & bath downstairs. Upstairs several of the rooms have views of the stream and a large deck overlocking the main deck withe the BBQ & fire pit. The great room was very inviting as well. Everyone had a good WIFI signal. The place was fully set up with everything you need to cook with. ( just bring your food) They even supply the firewood! We used the washer and dryer toward out last day whitch made things extremely convenient. Scott was point on with his details as to where things where located & how things operated. I speak for our entire group in saying we will definetly be back. Jon S."

  • Very unique house, kind of like a hobbit house.

"My daughter and I enjoyed our stay very much. The house itself is very unique and interesting. The fire pit area is perfect, we used it every night. There is firewood on site to use, which is very convenient. You can climb on top of the house and star gaze. The property is very secluded being the only property at the top of a mountain. There is also a heavy gate that can be locked for security. For spring and summer guests, you are about 15 min from Nantahala Outdoor Center. Straight down 74, you can't miss it. I try review these places as if they were my own. Having said that I gave this place 4 stars for one small reason. The screened in porch/hot tub area needs to be cleaned up, it really detracts from the overall looks of the place. The hot tub was non-functional while we were there and the sides of the hot tub were removed and laying around as if they were junk. I didn't notice if the hot tub was listed as an amenity or not, I wouldn't have used it if it had been in operation. I mention that because I don't want my previous statement to seem like the place was misrepresented, it was not. I would definitely stay here again because I like the house, the privacy, and the location. The owners were very easy to deal with and gave good communication."
