  • Phenomenal!

"A new bar has been set for cabin/cottage rentals and the bar has been set HIGH! My wife, 2 kids (7 and almost 3) stayed in Willow Cottage (and please, call it a cottage - "cabin" does not do it justice!) for 8 nights at the end of April. From the moment we entered the front door, we couldn't get over details, furnishings, layout, grounds, etc., etc. My 7-year old daughter felt as though she were a princess in her very own castle and my almost 3-year old son loved running around the grounds. During the day, the back patio was the perfect place to sit and relax with a book while the kids played in the sandbox and backyard. Even with temps in the 80s (warm for our Ohio blood) we were kept cool by the roof, fan, and stone patio. And in the evening, we would light a fire and enjoy a glass of wine (just the adults). With the amount of activities to do onsite, we never felt the need to "get out and do something." We could wander up the hill for a hike, play by the river, fish, or play games in the huge fields. We cooked great breakfasts during the day, grilled out for dinner, and made plenty of s'mores. The dark night skies (NO light from any town) were aglow by thousands of stars and since I brought my telescope, we were able to get some great views of Jupiter and the moon. The location is fantastic since it's only about 15-20 minutes to Wayensville and other locations. Waynesville has some nice shops, art galleries, and restaurants (try Chef's Table - great food). We made two trips up to the Pisgah Inn (once for breakfast and once for lunch) along the Blue Ridge Parkway (only about 25 minutes away). The BRP is close and the drive is great. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this location. One of the best vacations we had in a long time. Thanks!"

  • Your search is over!

"The pictures of Cold Mountain Retreat can't do it justice. The house is relatively new, nicely decorated and the view is spectacular. The surrounding houses are upscale and the road to the house well maintained asphalt. It's remote, safe and comfortable. The housekeeping is excellent. All three bathrooms, the kitchen, the floors and even windows were clean. The owners have thought of everything; a flashlight by the front door to read the key lock, labels on closets and wall switches, maps and menus, books, binoculars, gas grill, hiking supplies and a well written "Welcome Notes". There was a minor air-conditioning problem and the owner was right on it. It was serviced within 24 hours and we were never inconvenienced. Great house!"

  • Great cabin, beautiful views!

"Our family of 4 stayed at the Cold Mountain Cabin for a week in July and we had the best time! The ride up the mountain our first time was very hairy but we got better at it each time and by the end we were pros :) The boys loved making a fire in the fire pit for hotdogs and smores and the husband and I loved having coffee on the deck in the mornings. The bedroom AC units provide plenty of cool air when needed and the cabin is stocked with all the creature comforts of home. We will definitely keep this cabin in mind for future vacations!"

  • The nearest place to Heaven I have ever been.

"We just got back from three nights at the Lake Logan cabin. We travelled with friends who have two children. It was perfect for our needs. The lake was so beautiful, peaceful and tranquil. We all plan to come back. Our friend caught a nice Large Mouth--around 8 lbs! Dan & Leslie were very hospitable. We did not get to meet them in person, but we spoke with them by phone and email several times. The road in front to the cabin was not a problem. The children (8 and 12) were careful to look both ways before crossing as we watched from the porch, and traffic was not that heavy. The cars that did come by were travelling fast, but you could hear them coming way before they got there. Younger children would need more supervision, but that is just common sense anyway. The hot tub was wonderful in the evening, and the front porch was the place to be in the morning, drinking a cup of coffee and enjoying the cool mountain air. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. It was a short drive to Waynesville, and there was a bait and tackle shop about 10 minutes from the cabin where they were very helpful and gave advice about what types of tackle we needed. We had a great time! The Basham's"
