  • A perfect choice for a vacation home

"I am spending our last week here at Pine Creek Lodge. This has been the most amazing month here. I just love this house. The photos do not capture the design, the furnishings, the setting. From the main deck, one can hear the creek. It is so restful. The house is very clean and filled with light. The windows are expansive- with spectacular views of the trees. The decks overlook Lake Glenville. The summer temperature here is cool and refreshing because of the elevation. A nice contrast from our Florida home. Our dog absolutely enjoyed running free around the house, down the hill, into the creek, etc. The common park area where residents can put in kayaks is the most peaceful spot. It takes 15 minutes to walk there. Great workout. We had the use of two kayaks (and a canoe which we did not use). We rarely saw another resident there in all the time we were here. For the first week our toddler granddaughter came too, and especially liked the park, hunting for rocks, making sand castles. There was a swing set too with rings, which she loved. Randy, our host, offered us the use of two bird feeders, the source of lots of entertainment. He couldn't have been nicer, always available. The house had everything we needed. We didn't use the incredible game room downstairs, but I could see that this would be a great house for families with teens. We brought 2 baby gates, as there are stairs. Alone for the last two weeks, we hiked many of the trails in this area, such as: Whiteside Mountain, Ranger Falls at Cliffside Lake, Gorges State Park, Satulah Mountain, Botanical Gardens, the Arboretorium, and all those waterfalls. Bob and I were very impressed with what the area has to offer. It takes us 18 minutes to drive to Cashiers. There was a concert on the green there every Friday. The Bascom Art Center in Highlands was first rate. We rented a pontoon boat twice from Signal Ridge Marina. Breakfast at the Zookeeper Bistro was delicious. The folks at both places were very friendly. I did a trail ride yesterday at Arrowmont Stables, close by. For two hours I rode through the woods, and up in elevation. The views were spectacular. Jonathan and Chase were great! One can visit their new petting farm, a non profit part of Arrowmont, where there are goats, bunnies, kittens and lambs. They now have piglets! A big hit for little ones. I would like to book this home again."

  • Weekend getaway

"Our stay at big fish was phenomenal! The house had everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is well equipped and there are plenty of towels/linens. Each room you walk into has an even better view than the last."

  • Can't beat this house!

"We've stayed at Peace Mountain Lodge several times - the first time being ten years ago! There are four couples (seniors) that have traveled together for twenty-some years. Peace Mountain Lodge is absolutely a favorite. The house is always exceptionally clean and the kitchen is very well equipped. The description on the rental listing is very accurate, and you couldn't find a nicer owner to deal with than John Peace. We got a call from John right after check-in to make sure everything was okay. We'll certainly be back to Peace Mountain and would recommend it to anyone."

"You won't regret booking this place! Our criteria for our 10-year anniversary trip were as follows: -Rest -Privacy -Tranquility This place was perfect for all three. Granted, there is plenty to do in Cashiers, which was a quick, winding drive through the mountains! However, we were so comfortable and relaxed at the house that we didn't want to venture out but for dinner! The drive in was beautiful and the directions in the rental instructions were spot-on. The driveway was a little rough but it didn't matter to us since we had 4WD, though I'm sure with a little maneuvering we definitely could've made it up with 2WD. The grounds are beautiful and well taken care-of. The entire house is surrounded by thick trees, except the driveway of course, which creates so much seclusion and peace! When you walk in, the house is a breath of fresh air! It was very clean. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed to make whatever meals we didn't eat out. I'm a pretty picky cook, but I was very happy with all the tools and pots and pans necessary for everything we wanted to make! The two places we spent most of our time other than the kitchen were the master bedroom and the deck! The master bedroom is very big and comfortable, with lots of natural light if you want it, and lots of thick shades if you don't! True too the other reviewers' claims, the bed is extremely comfortable! We watched movies and it, and grabbed the small black game table from the living room, folded up the legs, and used it as a hard surface for playing board games in bed! When we weren't in the bed, we were sitting out on the deck! There are so many comfortable chairs available on all the decks, which was very enticing for sitting outside! We spent most of every morning we were there sitting on the deck, listening to the beautiful, tranquil sounds of the water, and chatting. Overall, this was a very clean, beautiful, tranquil, lovely, peaceful, perfect spot. It was exactly what we needed and we're so grateful to have gotten to go! The owners are so kind and accommodating and everything, from booking, to getting there, to checking out, was a breeze. Book this place!!!"
