  • 18 Years Renting in Cashiers and This Was One of my Favorites

"I have been renting homes in Highlands and Cashiers for 18 years. This was one of my favorite rentals based on comfort, ease of access, neighborhood and easy to deal with owner. This was one of the few attached town homes I have rented but it didn't feel like that at all. It felt very private despite having a family in the adjoining unit. We never heard any noise and hopefully they didn't hear our 11 month old crying multiple times per night. The home is appointed tastefully and feels very comfortable on every level. We enjoyed lighting a fire and watching football. We also enjoy an evening fire on the porch with the outdoor fireplace. Trillium is a beautiful neighborhood and walkable - which can't be said for many neighborhoods in Cashiers. In addition to the property being fantastic, the owner (Kit) was great to deal with and just an overall nice person that I am a better person for having met. I would definitely rent Ashgove Lodge again!!"

  • Quiet & Quaint!

"If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is your place! Cute cabin surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest. My husband and I spent the weekend here as an early birthday for him. MJ and Scott keep their cabin spotless and the kitchen is well-stocked with all the utensils you'll need (although we didn't cook any meals here - too many excellent restaurants in Cashiers & Highlands to enjoy). It rained on and off, so we didn't get to use the fire pit out back, but we were able to spend time on the back porch with a beverage, listening to the little waterfall. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. We didn't see any local critters larger than a cute little frog, but I'm sure they're out there. MJ was very responsive and easy to work with. You'll love it here!"

  • Secluded, Cozy and Adventurous

"I recently stayed here with my husband, aunt, disabled mother and dog. We loved it! The photos don't do it justice. As others have mentioned, the road to the cottage is a little tricky to navigate in the dark. Although we didn't have cell service, the maps app could still track us which helped when we took a wrong turn halfway up. Weaving through the mountains was a fun adventure I wouldn't want to do without. Although my mother couldn't leave the house, she loved the sound of the waterfall from the porch. The highlight really was the waterfall. We took the steep and slippery (with leaves and mud) climb down the mountain. It didn't take long and the ropes tied to the trees were super helpful. Our dog continued to race up and down the hill as we were climbing - she was in heaven! The kitchen is well stocked, a few games in the cabinet, cute decor and spacious rooms. The trip up the mountain takes a bit of time but there's so much beauty to look at along the way. It's also close to a few day-trip waterfall explorations in nearby cities. If there was anything to be disgruntled it was that we were accompanied by a little creature at 3am during our stay. While it did keep my aunt up the rest of the night with the bedroom light on I still feel this place deserves 5 stars. Don't be a wuss...it's a cabin, in the mountains, in fall. If she had been a sound sleeper, we would have never known."

  • Impeccably furnished and beautiful inside and out. Perfect for family reunions!

"We absolutely loved this home! I cannot say enough about the attention to detail in this property. Every thought has been taken, acted on and there is nothing missing from this rental. What a beautiful view of the lake, we sat hours and hours on the huge porch, enjoying the lake view, the outdoor grill and fire place, plenty of chairs and swing. The inside is spacious and perfectly, if not professtionally decorated. The Trillium area is first class, we enjoyed being able to use all the amenities. Our family members went to the beautiful pool overlooking the mountains, the gym, we rented boats from the marina and had a wonderful day tubing the kids on the lake. We are not golfers, but if you are, this area has an incredible golf course. I would rent this home again in a heartbeat! The two living areas were perfect for families, we had the kids downstairs and they had so much fun playing games, watching the Olympics and enjoying their own porch area, while the adults were in the main living room having fun. Kitchen is completely stocked, two sets of washer/dryers were great and the location was perfect. Trillium is a beautiful country club community super close to Cashiers for groceries/shopping. Only a 25 minute drive to Highlands as well. I highly recommend this home. It was perfect for our 3 families to have a reunion. The owners were very easy and pleasant to answer any questions we had prior to coming, and once we arrived we didn't need to bother them for a thing. They provided all kinds of great info on the area, maps, guides, menus, etc. Perfect trip to end the summer!!"
