  • Charming, beautiful, secluded

"If you like to get close to nature and unplug, but you aren't the camping type, this is the perfect place for you. I would describe this as a luxury cabin. It was clean, well equipped, modern yet rustic, perfectly decorated and comfortable. There were 5 of us (my wife, 3 kids & me), and there was plenty of room. It's cozy. We're a close family, so we don't mind being close. If you're not, it might be a little tight. The caretaker, Bob, is fantastic! He will take care of you like family, checking in from time to time without being intrusive. We spent our mornings and evenings fishing, our afternoons boating, and hours each night out on the deck stargazing. It's a beautiful place to look for shooting stars! A couple of things to know before you go. 1 - it is very remote. Going out to eat is not convenient because you have to boat to a landing and drive at least 30 min to find anything. We never even attempted this because that wasn't the type of trip we were looking for. Bring some groceries with you and cook. They have everything you need, including a nice gas grill. 2 - Since it is a floating house, the toilet flushes to a holding tank. It is a full bathroom, clean and comfortable, but there can be an odor for a few minutes after flushing. If you're sensitive to smells, you might be disappointed. We just kept the bathroom door closed and it was only a minor nuisance. 3 - don't plan on being on your cell phone all day. We have Verizon, and the cell service was almost nonexistent. Text messages would sometimes be delayed hours, but we found a place by the door where they would go through quickly. If you need to stay plugged in, you'll need to figure that out before you go, but this is a location to get away and UNPLUG. Perfect in my opinion. The most important thing that I can say is that I will definitely stay here again!"

  • Best stay ever.

"My family Visits WNC a couple times a year. We have stayed in many places looking for the right area we want to live in one day. This last trip was by far the best ever. Not only is the cabin wonderful but the Cates are some of the most friendly people and made us truly feel like we were at home with old friends. She invited the kids to come down to their house anytime to swim and play. Just talking over coffee was great. I had two 13 year old boys, my mom and my 87 year old grandma with me. The house was perfect. Most importantly it was easy for my grandma to get around. Only two small steps and the driveway is paved and level. I highly recommend staying with the Cates. It's the perfect location and will fit any type of family. We will not stay anywhere else and can't wait to go back."

  • A place you can rest your heart!

"Where to start? How about first things first, the owner's are a joy to work with. Prompt, super friendly and helpful! Made our decision to stay EASY! The house and accommodations? Oh my, the pictures do not do justice to the mountain view this home has and with a two story window facing it you feel as though you are in another world. The same views surround you in the house or on the deck. Lots of wildlife, very peaceful. The home has everything you need to cook, have fun or just about anything else. Everything was in order and as good as brand new! We especially enjoyed the Jacuzzi on the deck. Blessing Ridge is located close to many wonderful adventures such as Gem mining, hiking, waterfalls, white water rafting, Cherokee and Franklin. I truly feel blessed that my family found this getaway and it will be remembered for a long time. Did I mention the sky at night? or watching a storm in the mountains from the distance? WOW! Would most definitely recommend and will be back with my family."

  • A breath of fresh air!

"We stayed at Woodcove Cabins and could not have asked for anything better! The owners made sure they thought of everything that you may need. They are one of the sweetest couples that you would ever want to meet. We done some sightseeing every day and the views were awesome. The colors were beautiful. So glad we decided to take our vacation in Franklin and the next best decision was saying at Woodcove!"
