  • Stunning view, quiet, great value

"We are staying here for two months while looking for a second home. The view is better than anticipated, especially at night. Very quiet area but yet so close to town. Well decorated and fully stocked with everything needed to be comfortable. Enjoyed the loft for afternoon reading in the sun and the mornings working in the office nook with a large desk and Wi Fi available throughout the home. Would even buy this home if it was available!"

  • Goldilocks would love it!

"This is a truly lovely setting & it was a joy to breakfast on one of the three porches each morning (I prefer the one with rocking chairs), admiring the trees & listening to the brook down in the ravine--which is actually loud enough I could hear it over my tinnitus going to sleep.* Another nice thing is that a dog can be confined on the front porch as well as in the yard, and ours really enjoyed spending time there. The cottage is convenient to Brevard (good restaurants, great gallery shops) and the Pisgah National Forest (with waterfalls!), and the ride into town is lovely too. We expected to be isolated in the wilderness, so to speak, but other cottages are scattered up and down the wooded hill (not too close). The amenities are fine--the shower is great & safe though it's awkward to have a bathroom opening onto the living room--and the hot water and towels plentiful. Kitchen is tight but functions well; plenty of dishes & cookware. Bears are everywhere--carved, photographed, everything but live. *The one problem for me--my daughter and son-in-law had the master bedroom--was the single bed with the delightful bear posts; it's picturesque but the mattress isn't good enough for an elderly person with a bad back. If we were to return--and we'll certainly be tempted!--I'd either have to get a "Travel Ewe" pad or be assured you'd acquired a pillow top if not a whole new mattress. I think it's all right for the young. A little table on the door side of the bed and a rocking chair or small armchair would also be useful additions to that room. All in all, though, I certainly give it a five-star recommendation."
