  • A place where you can actually breathe

"I've brought my wife and two little boys here three times now and the four of us are always so sad to leave. Every time you visit you'll notice something you didn't see the last time (place is loaded with unique decorations). My boys always go straight for the stick horses, cowboy hat, toy pop gun etc. The place is always clean, fresh mountain air, fully stocked with pots pans and dishes, movies for the kids, I could go on about it but you'd just have to see for yourself."

  • Breathtaking!!

"Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us! The view is absolutely breathtaking. We spent a lot of time on the porch just taking in Gods beauty! The pictures do not do this house justice, you must see for yourself. This by far was the best vacation and none of us wanted to leave. We will definitely be back again next year!"

  • Purple and Gold

"We stayed at Bare Necessities the weekend of our son's graduation from Western Carolina University. The purple and gold colors of WCU were on display on campus and at sunset from the deck of Bare Necessities. You cannot capture the long-range views in a photo. We could still see the snow atop Clingman's Dome over 30 miles away. The hot tub was a welcome retreat after a couple of busy days packing up a moving van and attending the graduation festivities. The cabin comfortably slept 5 adults with an air mattress we took with us. The upstairs shower had a tough time keeping water pressure when someone was in the shower downstairs but we just staggered our bathroom visits to accommodate. There are so many outdoor activities in the surrounding area but my favorite was driving up Barker's Creek Rd, turning onto Beech Tree Rd and driving until it turns into a National Forestry dirt road. This drive is quintessential Western Carolina with family farms, mountain views and beautiful creeks. We fished for native trout in the middle fork of Barker's Creek and hardly noticed the hour that waned away in the middle of a hectic weekend. We can't wait to return in the fall."

  • The property was beautiful but it was very remote.

"The house was beautiful and surrounding hillside lovely. At night sitting in rocking chair on front porch was so peaceful. Saw a couple wild turkey and big owl. The property was more remote than realized and tucked back into the hills. It was a reasonable drive time to the areas we wanted to visit. Would consider staying again should we go back to that area."
