  • Beautiful retreat in the NC mountains

"Just finished a girls' weekend at this beautiful house in the NC mountains. We had a wonderful time and the place was absolutely perfect. What a beautiful view off the back porch, and the fire pit was a nice touch as well. We were a bit surprise by the steep and curvy drive up to the house... would recommend a smaller vehicle than an 8 passenger Suburban for that climb! Kitchen was well stocked, though we were a bit disappointed in the limited toiletries and cleaning products in the unit. Overall, the house was very clean and just about what we expected."

  • Lake Lure Family Retreat

"Our extended family of 10 spent 4 nights in this Lake Lure house. Very comfortable, everything we needed. Great layout with downstairs suite. Lots of space for 3 families to spread out and 2 kitchens. We made good use of the extra fridge. The kitchen is very well stocked with all utensils, pots, pans etc one would need. The house sits practically on the lake, something we learned to appreciate after touring the lake and seeing the walk downs a lot of homes have. Nice sitting area on the dock, shaded and a fan. Swimming was awesome for the kids/adults. Bring noodles but they supply a number of floatables. Can't beat this for a big group."

  • Peaceful & Fun Family Trip to the Mountains

"My family and I recently spent a long weekend at this property. Between the convenience of Saluda and Hendersonville, as well as the tightly nestled house in the mountains, it was the perfect mix of fun and relaxation. Saluda/Hendersonville were close enough for us to get to town for some antiquing and lunch, and the peace and quiet of the house, not to mention it's breathtaking views, made for the perfect balance! We traveled with 8 adults (4 couples) and 1 toddler and the house was plenty big to accommodate all of us. My only suggestion is to add an egg crate or foam topper to help with the give/comfort of the old mattresses on the beds. Michelle was very accommodating to our early arrival and allowed us to get into the house a few hours early. Everything was spotless and overall very comfortable. My family had a great time enjoying evenings and mornings on the deck, as well as some time in and around town and can't wait to plan our next trip!"

  • Comfortable condo by lovely Lake Lure

"My best friend, seven-year-old son and I stayed for three nights at Sallie and Alan's condo and had a great time. Sallie was very communicative and a pleasure to work with. We swam in the lake and the pool (which has a fun 'lazy river'), rented kayaks, took a boat trip around the lake (which includes the sites where 'Dirty Dancing' was filmed - you can rent the movie from the wellness center and watch it before you go!), ate a very nice dinner at the Lakeview restaurant and enormous, delicious ice-creams from the beachside cabana, and played mini-golf and other games. Having stopped at the nearby Ingles for supplies on the way to the condo, we didn't leave the resort the whole time! One thing we really liked about the Rumbling Bald resort is that all the facilities are close together, so you can park up in one place and walk between them. We also had access to them for the whole of the days we arrived and left, which was a bonus. The resort wasn't crowded during our stay. The condo itself was pleasant, with comfortable beds and effective A/C, which was important as it was HOT. Just a five-minute drive to the resort facilities. Neither the condo nor the resort are super-slick and modern, but that wasn't our priority. I was a little surprised to find that the screened porch had plexiglass windows, but it would have been too warm for us to sit out there without them anyway. The wifi was OK but cell reception quite poor for my network (Sprint). Lake Lure is a special place - swimming in the fresh water, surrounded by mountains, is an experience not to be missed. We hope to be back! Thank you Sallie and Alan for sharing your condo with us!"
