"We thought Cozy Bear Paw Cottage was great! We were looking for a value-oriented scenic retreat for a Thanksgiving weekend, and that's exactly what we got.
The location was great, nestled among a street of small cabins once used to house the workforce that constructed the nearby Hiwassee Dam. Located just a mile away, the dam itself was really picturesque. (there are views from both the top and bottom). The cabin itself was great - very clean, very simple, and somewhat rustic. Big enough so that we weren't knocking into each other, yet small enough for a cozy weekend. The kitchen is fabulous - it's got every untensil (except a toaster), and the appliances are better than those in our apartment. We used the charcoal grill outside every night, and not just for burgers and dogs - we were even able to cook up some nice ribs. The couch was comfortable, the shower ran hot, the DirectTV never went out, and we were able to get a great night's sleep in the comfortable bed. Everything was perfect.
I would keep in mind that it does have A/C (window units in the bedrooms), and utilizes a gas heater in the living room. In fact, the *only* issue we had was with the gas heater - and it was quickly fixed by the proprietor - no problem what-so-ever. We could not get the heater to stay lit, as the gas was turned off at the main valve. No problem, even though it was a holiday, the proprietor came over and fixed the situation for us very quickly - as I said, no problem what-so-ever. After that, the heater was easy to light and use, and was plenty warm enough.
Speaking of the proprietors, they were great. They were very friendly, were very responsive to the couple questions we had before hand, promptly fixed the one issue we hand, are were very easy to do business with overall. I would definitely recommend renting from them, no problem.
This cottage exceeded our expectations."
