  • Amazing Views and Location

"My wife, three year old daughter and I spent a couple of weekends at Rugby's this spring. We couldn't appreciate his hospitality or home any more. We had everything there in the house we could ask for (gas grill, fully stocked kitchen, fireplace, new LCD TV's for night, and last but not least amazing views). The location is perfect for anyone who wants to be minutes from downtown Cashiers, but also close to some of the best hiking in the area in Panthertown. We can't wait to go back!"

  • Great camp feel but no AC makes it not a "luxury" home.

"This is a great, big house but for the rental fee and "luxury" description one expects/assumes AC. Days get hot and very muggy on Lake Glenville in the summer. We had all the windows and doors open 24/7 and still it was hot and sticky, especially after cooking. But if you get into the "camp" vibe (spiders and all) you'll really enjoy this property and house. Like another reviewer, we did find it very dark inside. Inexplicably, many of the recessed lights have been covered over, including the two main foyer entrances, upstairs and down. Bedroom lighting is weak. It makes the house feel a little dingy when it absolutely isn't. It has super comfy leather sofas; a big 10-seat round dining table; great mix of antiques; wide lawn; great views; easy lake access and a spectacular "mudroom" off the lake entrance with many life vests for all ages. The sailboat, two kayaks and canoe make it a blast to be outside which is where you'll want to be. (Did I mention how hot it gets indoors?) The gas grill was great. But it would be nice to have a table outside for eating. It has very good quality bedding, plentiful thick towels, pretty (and clean) bathrooms and a very well stocked, clean kitchen (except it needs more forks). There is a wonky, aging fridge with a door that kept pulling open. It has very easy parking and access for multiple cars. The owner responded quickly to a slow sink drain, sending a handyman right away. Despite the few quirks and the lack of AC, we really loved the unpretentious beauty of Katie Camp. But with AC and a little better lighting, it would simply be the best rental on Lake Glenville. It's a very special lake home, for sure."

  • Lynne

"My husband and I have rented several different homes on Lake Glenville. All were nice but didn't fit the word "cabin". The pictures are great, but you'll be surprised when you walk through the front door. We lacked for nothing. (There were actually enough pots and pans!)We were there for 5 nights and hated to leave. We spent most of our time on the huge screened in porch. The beds were super comfortable...extra nice linens. Cashiers is 10 min or less away, with restaurants and plenty of shops. We're not "shoppers", but did love the antique shops. Kim was so accomadating. It's a great "find". and we plan to make another trip, knowing exactly what we're renting...a little bit of heaven!"

  • The Best "Getaway From It All" Place!

"After I shared with my family that I had just booked a house on the lake that had no internet, no wifi, and no cell service they were less than happy. But being the troopers they are and knowing how much each of us needed to recharge, they went excited to see if they could survive. WE SURVIVED! And made wonderful memories too. The lake is one of the cleanest I have ever seen! And private. We felt like we owned it! We made full use of the boats, brought our own floats and spent almost everyday on the water. The hill down to the lake is a bit challenging but I just kept reminding myself we were burning some of those extra vacation calories. The house was clean and the perfect size for our family of four but definitely could have fit more. We played games, kids played nicely together (that's something crazy for a 12 year old girl and 15 year old boy!) We went into Asheville one day and went to Asheville TreeTop Adventure Rope Course. Very fun and challenging. A black bear darted out in front of the car on the ride home from Asheville on the absolutely beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway that evening. That was uber fun for the kids - not so much for me - the driver! We had a fabulous time and got back to family basics - spending quality time with each other - with no interruption from the outside world! Thank you for sharing your wonderful home! And a shout out to Carol - she was amazing from the time we booked to checking in on us while we were there."
