  • Wow

"My husband and I arrived late at night. We were immediately impressed with the beautiful cabin, the fireplace, the size, etc. When we woke in the morning we were absolutely stunned. Little did we know that we had the most amazing view. We woke to a glistening crystal blue lake and a beautiful mountain range visiable from the bedroom window and of course the big picture windows. The wrap around deck was just perfect and we could have spent the entire vacation just enjoying the view, but we managed to tear ourselves away to enjoy some of the many activities the area has to offer. We canoed, hiked fished and did lots of sightseeing. . We only had a few days and next time hope to white water raft. As an airline employee, my husband my husband and I have access to just about anywhere a plane flies, but this was by far one of our favorite spots in the world. We look forward to our next visit. The owner, Pat, could not have been more helpful and was available round the clock. He is very organized has a great notebook full directions and suggestions which served to make navigating the area a breeze.. We highly recommend this cabin. You will not be dissapointed, I only wish there were more than five stars, as this little slice of heaven deserves ten. Thanks For all, and hope to visit Misty Laurel again. Tom and Cynthia"

  • Wonderful, cozy, clean and comfortable cabin!

"We stayed in Coral's Spirit of the Mountain retreat over Thanksgiving for 4 nights with a 16 year old girl and 13 year old boy. The layout of the cabin is very comfortable in that we all had our "own space" but were together the whole time. Our daughter loved the room upstairs, all to herself and our son loved the game room downstairs with his half bath and futon and pool table that we all enjoyed nightly. We enjoyed the gas fire in the living room daily and the kitchen had everything we needed by way of tools and pans to make our meals. Coral met us on the first evening and was very gracious even after we were gone, when she mailed us my daughter's jeans that had been left in the dryer! The cabin was very clean and well kept. We were careful to follow the garbage rules since there can be bears in the forest and everything was provided to make our stay easy, including extra trash bags, paper towels, soap, dishwasher detergent, etc. The location of the cabin is fantastic. It's very very close to Brevard, which is the cutest little town. The nearest grocery and Walmart are only minutes away and the proximity to both Dupont State Forest and the Pisgah National Forest is amazing. We were minutes from countless, fabulous hikes. Although the cabin is at the top of the mountain, it's still very accessible. We've stayed in some, where the road up was gravel, narrow and so steep that these flat-land-Floridians got nervous going up at night. This cabin has very good access and although steep, a very nice safe road with no traffic. I have already recommended this cabin to a friend. Do not hesitate to book it. You will enjoy your stay at the top of this mountain. :)"

  • Amazing

"This was by far one of the most incredible homes with views that simply took my breath away. As others have shared, be forewarned that the gravel road to the property was more than intimidating for those of us who aren't used to navigating mountains. However we got used to it right away. Don is super nice and super helpful, and I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a perfect secluded getaway above the clouds."

  • Beautiful home with a fabulous view and close to everything!

"Our family came up for Spring Break to stay in is what I now refer to as my sanctuary! Absolute peace and quite with the nearest neighbor barely visible through the trees - I think it took me two days to even notice! After walking in to the home for the first time, I could not believe the view in front of me...absolutely stunning! The home itself, is nothing short of exquisite with a wonderful layout, large rooms, beautiful furnishings and tasteful decor. You can tell that the owners put a lot of thought into this home and it is well maintained. There are neat little features from lighting to architectural design that were so impressive. It is stocked with everything you'd expect and even hope for - paper products, trash bags, detergents, spices, linens, Wii games, board games, etc. The kitchen has everything you need for meal preparation. There is even a substantial CD collection and stereo for guest's use that we took full advantage of! Enjoyed having the music flow throughout the home. We would sit and watch - from inside, on the screened in porch or the deck - the view constantly changing with the clouds rolling by. Nighttime offered a completely perspective of overlooking the town full of twinkling lights! The owner, David, is a pleasure and easy to reach. He met us at the bottom of the mountain and lead us up Harriett's Trail to the property. We would have never found it otherwise! The drive up (and down!) the mountain is quite the "adventure" being that it is a one lane gravel road that is quite steep and winding even going through two creeks. Follow David's instructions...take the curves wide and put it in 4WD going up and low gear going down. Takes a few extra minutes to traverse but so worth it! When we did decide to venture out, we spent time window shopping in the lovely town of Waynesville, ate lunch at Haywood's Smokehouse and also at Clyde's, toured around Lake Junaluska, and spent one afternoon in Cherokee. Dollywood, about 1.5 hours away, provided a full day of activity. We also explored the nearby National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway and sought out quite a few waterfalls. Many things to do with so little time. This place is close to everything! We hated to leave but look forward to returning one day! Many thanks for a wonderful family vacation!"
