  • Family Vacation

"We recently visited with our 5 year old triplets and a one year old. Our friends and I truly enjoyed the house. The kitchen is very well stocked. There is limited seating in the living room area but for the adults it was ok. Overall this was an amazing vacation. The boat is a great benefit and really could not imagine the trip without a boat. You MUST have four wheel drive to make it up and down the mountain without panic! After one time up and down you are all set!! There is limited parking. Bring bug spray as the chiggers are not pleasant. The owner is always available and does a good job providing information. The neighbors do not rent their cabin so there is no worry about noise and they are very pleasant. Great great trip and we will be back!"

  • Perfect vacation home!

"We spent a wonderful week here celebrating our 25th Anniversary. The home was absolutely beautiful and perfect for our large family. The lake is gorgeous and was the perfect swimming temperature. The accommodations were more than comfortable, beautifully decorated and met all our needs. We enjoyed a day trip to Deep Creek Campground to tube down the river. There are lots of activities within an hour of the house. The owner was very easy to communicate with and promptly answered any questions we had. We hope to come back soon!!!"

  • Fabulous

"My family and I decided to skip the amusement parks and hit the mountains this year. It was exactly what we needed. The views were beautiful and the cabin was perfect. Pam went above and beyond helping us book outings. She emailed us websites and even book marked a binder she created with what she thought would be appropriate for the ages of my children. Everything about the trip was wonderful. I highly recommend Mountainview House!"

  • Relaxing seclusion

"Being right on the lake, but in an alcove away from the marina/boat ramps, made it a very pleasant location. The house was mostly clean and had sufficient windows to ensure lights were only needed at night, yet had sufficient trees to prevent it from becoming an oven in the warmer part of the day. Planning your food is key, as is communication, as there are no grocers nearby (as stated by the owner...thanks) and the wifi...well, the wifi doesn't really exist. Lakes End Marina Cafe has great wifi, so not sure why the house didn't? The waterfalls nearby on the lake, which directions are left in the notebook by the owner, were a restful and beautiful spot to kayak/boat. Fishing the lake was a learning experience, but no trout/salmon this trip, only small mouth bass, perch, and blue gill...all of them fun to catch. We had no neighbors present until the last night, making it a bit of silence my family welcomed as respite from work/school. Close enough to Cherokee/Bryson City to have some alternate activities, but far enough away that the 'touristy' feel was completely non-existent. The pool/air hockey/ping pong table was a surprise in that usually this combo is a smallish version, but this was full-size ping pong and mid-size pool...very fun. Highly recommend for a peaceful visit with fun water activity (we rented a pontoon/tube and had a riot). Also recommend the owner update the wifi, as most people these days are using it for most of their activity planning and communication. Overall, we would definitely stay again! BTW, instructions say no coffee grinder and I took whole beans...YES, there IS a coffee grinder (we're coffee snobs)! And take your boat if you have one! The kayaks and canoe are nice and being able to tie off the personal boat is a real bonus."
