"My family of 5 booked this exquisite cabin to enjoy as a last "hooray" before the school rush started. This was EXACTLY what we all needed to unwind! My husband and I needed an escape with the kids to relax and enjoy complete serenity with the family without cellphones/computers/tablets and decisions to be made. We have vacationed in Nantahala for 15+ years, but this property exceeded our expectations from prior rentals on VRBO. The view from all 3 decks are fantastic! I love, love, love ALL the details in every nook! The plush linens and bedding were so supple! It was literally home away from home. The kayaks and canoe were SO much appreciated and enjoyed! My kids and I spent hours on the lake exploring and we had a thrill of victory when we finally found the " hidden waterfall of NANTAHALA ". We spent HOURS playing Monopoly! (a board game without a plug!) THE VERY BEST was when Lisa actually mailed back my little boy's tooth, which he lost during our stay, with a signed letter from the Tooth Fairy, with PAYMENT included! SO MUCH APPRECIATED! I RECOMMEND THIS cabin for anyone who wants a HOME, not just a place to sleep!! Thank you so MUCH Lisa and Jerry! We'll be back!"

  • If your jaw drops in the forest ...

"My family and I stayed at the Messick's home in order to peacefully ring in the New Year and get some R&R! I researched and researched for something that could comfortably accommodate our large family and this did not disappoint. The pictures are pretty and accurate, but to open the front door and be there in person is definitely a "wow" moment. It is such a beautifully appointed property inside. Also, to be on the deck and look down at the water below is peaceful and beautiful. It was wonderful to only hear wind rustling through the trees. I can only imagine how fun this place would be in the summer. The living area is very well spaced out. There was room for everyone. that a game or two took place between my family members. The property is about 30 minutes outside of Andrews, NC on Lake Nantahala. We made a few trips to the Ingles Supermarket to stock up. The drive was mostly on paved road except for about the last 7 minutes worth approaching the cabin. We had no snow and some rain, but I found no problem driving back and forth with a 2 wheel drive Nissan Rogue. There is an Animal Preserve about 10 minutes from the home that children may enjoy (ours did). Andrews Brewing Company is just outside of the town and the adults may enjoy that (we did). Andrews, NC is quaint. We drove about 40 minutes from the home and visited Murphy, NC. Cute town! Nice people! We stopped in at The Daily Grind and Wine and were invited to ring in Dublin's New Year. We're glad we stopped in. It was a really nice time. The above mentioned Preserve has a trout pond and there is another close by. Brenda and Tim are wonderful people. My hat is off to them for opening up their home and sharing it. Their priority was that we had a great time and we did. I was nervous that that the children didn't break anything, but as luck would have it daddy would be the one to do so. They were very understanding and I replaced said item. There was one hiccup with the outside gas grill. Tim explained what is was and we made some ribs shortly after. Also, the upstairs bathroom and Master bath have water dials that turn counter clockwise instead of clockwise, so that simply means that hot is still on the right and cold is on the left. Go all the way and you'll be having a cold shower! If you are looking for a spacious, beautiful, comfortable property on the water where you can relax then this is your place. If you are fortunate enough to book it you will enjoy it! We did."

  • The pictures don't give justice to the property!

"Our family had a wonderful week escaping the hustle and bustle of Atlanta. The property was the perfect size for our family of 5 and we enjoyed the remoteness of the location atop the mountain. The views were breathtaking and we enjoyed the immense amount of natural light that comes through the huge windows on three sides of the property. The homeowner is very accommodating and is very easy to work with. We enjoyed the wide variety of books that nicely adorned the main living area as well as watching the birds enjoying the bird feeders that are on both corners of the house. The house was clean, neat, and very nicely decorated. None of us wanted to leave. Suggest driving to the property for the first time while there is still light as the house is atop the mountain. However, the drive is not intimidating at all after the first few times. Lots of great places to hike and enjoy the scenery every where you look. We highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a one of a kind location that is nestled away. Hope you enjoy this place as much as we did."

  • A slice of heaven!!!

"Absolutely amazing house! Exactly what we were looking for. Incredibly quiet and peaceful. Wish we were able to see the views better, but the smoke from the wildfires hindered the views. We look forward to coming back!"
