"Way better than the listing describes! Extremely home like and comfortable. Beautiful views. Quiet. Has everything you will need, plus more! Our kids loved this place as well as the trail...kept them busy for hours. :) Will be back next year!!!"

  • we all agree that we would like to make a trip to Tatonka Lodge a family tradition

"There's so much to say, I hope I can get it all in. We just returned yesterday from three days at Tatonka Lodge - it was incredible! Preparation for the trip and all of the information necessary to get there was very helpful; Cheryl was amazingly responsive to every call and email. We were there with our grown children and grandchildren ages 8 mo, 3, 6 and 8 and we had a blast! The weather was extraordinarily warm so we didn't get the chance to enjoy a fire but we will be back so will get to do that next time. We all enjoyed being outside - the workout/hiking trail to the tether ball area and the playground was alot of fun! The cabin is beautiful and we felt right at home from the minute we arrived. We loved the game room! The kids slept on the futons in the loft and loved it! The beds were comfortable and even with everyone there, we had plenty of space inside and out places for quiet moments. The view from and around the property is breathtaking. The kids enjoyed seeing the llama, buffalo, goats, rabbits, horses and ponies! We also enjoyed sitting out on the deck. The location of the hot tub is perfect for enjoying the view or enjoying a beautiful starry night! It was an amazing 3 days and everyone is in agreement that we would like to make this a family tradition. We met Stevie and Jacob (?) who were working hard on the farm I'm sure making more incredible spaces. They were so NICE and helpful and we were able to convince them to return for lunch to enjoy some homemade vegetable soup. We enjoyed their company. It was also nice to see pictures of the building process. Amazing work! Congratulations to all that contributed and continue to work so hard. Guess I'd better comment on the driveway. The lower section of the driveway had just been paved making that first hill much easier. I'm glad that I didn't have to drive but I'm a nervous driver :( No one else in our party had any trouble (we were driving a truck, and 3 SUVs). Just be prepared for a steep steady climb but once there, it is SO WORTH IT! You'll be in heaven on top of the mountain! Thank you Cheryl for your responsiveness. We will be back......... and can't wait!"

  • Fantastic mountain view

"Our 2 week stay at the Ponderosa was wonderful! We saw the elk almost every evening on Long Branch & Black Camp Gap Rds. The mountain view is perfect and watching the humming birds & chipmunks is always fun! Long Branch Rd. was rather challenging... although I drive a Jeep Wrangler, my boyfriend had a Chevy Malibu & had some trouble getting up the road. This was the 2nd time renting a cabin in Maggie is a great area with easy access to Blue Ridge Pkwy. Visited Biltmore Estate in Asheville (a must-see!!), waterfall hike in Pisgah Nat'l Forest, Cataloochee Valley, & many scenic drives. Good restaurants: Frankie's, Joey's Pancake House, Frog's Leap (Waynesville), Andolini's & Southern Table. Definitely would like to visit again during "leaf season"!"
