  • Perfect

"My husband and I had the opportunity to stay at this property and it was perfect! It was beautiful, cozy and relaxing. Marianne and Nancy are the perfect host/ neighbor. They were able to offer suggestions of where to shop, dine, hike and see waterfalls in the area. They also have a binder full of brochures of area attractions. After a hard day of hiking, we were able to enjoy the pool and hot tub at the resort. We were able to return to our " home", have a nice home cooked dinner, then relax on the beautiful screened porch with a glass of wine. Or just fall asleep on the double hammock! We can't wait to return. The area is lovely with so much to see and do, but having a "home" makes it even better."

  • For the price the property was great; new furnishings and great access to the lake.

"We loved this vacation. The property had two stories, which I hadn't realized from pics. Internet access didn't work for us but we were there to be outside so we didn't mind. It is a short walk down to a fun lake with a beach and boat/kayak rentals. Our kids--8 and 10--also really enjoyed the amenities. The "resort" isn't luxurious but for little kids, it was great. They loved the pool, the putt putt course, and the game room with ping pong, pool, air hockey, etc. There were even buckets of dirt and a sluice for "mining" you could buy and mine for gems. The access to amenities costs $2 per day for adults--under 14 are free. Lee was excellent to work with and was willing to let us come early and check out late. He responded immediately to all questions. We loved hiking and swimming in falls in Gorges Park (only 10+ minutes away)and enjoyed driving to other waterfalls in the area. I didn't give it five stars because no internet, some of the kitchen utensils/pots were dirty, and it wasn't completely amazing. However, the property obviously had been updated and it was great. We appreciated the two beds in the second bedroom so kids could have their own--beds were comfortable and the property actually looks nicer than it does in the pics. For the price it was excellent. We will be coming back to this area."

  • Fabulous view

"The house is beautiful with the best screened-in porch to enjoy the views. I loved the seclusion and convenience to many local stops. My only negative is the size of the indoor living space. If the weather hadn't been so wonderful the small living room could have been a concern. Overall, I would definitely recommend this house."

  • Beautiful Mountain Home - 4th of July Summer Vacation

"My family of four recently stayed at High Whisper for one week during 4th of July along with another family of 5 who joined us for 3 nights from Raleigh ... just as the reviews had mentioned ...we were not disappointed. This was our second summer booking a home near Cashiers area ... last year, our town home at Trillium was beautiful but on the smaller side, so we were looking for something with a bit more elbow room and direct mountain views outside our back porch and windows. We decided to try Sapphire Valley this year and based on all the reviews I was drawn to High Whisper. Now, being a South Florida girl, I was particularly interested in soaking in a hot tub while relaxing under the stars and enjoying the crisp mountain air and views. High Whisper made this a reality for me! Firstly, as we arrived to the home for our 4th of July week celebration, we were met with a special delivery box at the door step from the owner Linda, and to our surprise, the box was filled with 2 American flags on sticks, a 'Freedom" decorative pillow and two red/white/blue kitchen hand towels. It was completely unexpected and so thoughtful...we were so impressed. Everything you've heard in the reviews is all true - the house has everything you would ever need for a vacation getaway ... kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could ever need, you just buy groceries. Beds are super comfy and each space is just perfect. We spent a lot of our time in the Kitchen and out back on the porch in the hot tub to be honest. For our kids (ages 8 and 6), the downstairs game room complete with pool table, air hockey and DVDs was a hit also. I think my kids watched Harry Potter 2-3 times that week. lol. In my opinion, there aren't enough pictures of the mountain views ... I was a little unsure what our views would be like, but they are beautiful especially from the backyard porch so no worries. Linda even provides an App for each renter to download prior to their trip and it literally answers every question you could ever have about the house and surrounding area. We didn't need to call the owner once during our trip! The only regret I have is that we were so busy river rafting the Nantahala, hiking and visiting local waterfalls/rivers, that we ran out of time to enjoy the nearby lake down the road and the canoe/kayaks that come with the rental. Next year for sure!! Can't thank Linda enough for her hospitality and kindness. You won't be disappointed!!!"
