  • Happy Thanksgiving

"We stayed here during our "destination" Thanksgiving and everything turned out perfectly. The house , the deck and the grounds were clean and neat. The kitchen is well furnished in terms of dishes (but you need a new can opener that one's on its last turn). The home is warm and cozy and there are plenty of extra blankets. Despite being late fall we spent a lot of time in the hot tub, or cuddled in blankets drinking coffee on the deck. We took a very short drive to Nantahala Nat forest area and went hiking as well. There is a chiminea as well for your use. We had a glitch with the wi-fi, but sent a text and the owner was on it, and had the solution in no time. They only drawback was that someone left food in the drain and we fought fruit flies. . .arrgh! However we are hoping to stay again early summer. This was well worth the $$ and the drive."

  • Even better than they said it was

"The cabin sits at the top of a fairly steep private road, with views across the valley to the west from the second storey deck. It's very well appointed, for sleeping, cooking and entertaining. Good quality beds, linen, cookware, crockery, stove, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. One bedroom upstairs, two down. Open and well furnished living areas on both levels. Although cell phone coverage is largely out of the question in these parts, the cabin has internet access and a landline. Effective A/C for our brief summer stay, and an open fire for winter. The owners' communication and response to any queries was pretty much instantaneous, their directions easy to follow, and the cabin was spotless on our arrival. We arrived from TN via the tail of the dragon; missed Cade's Cove en route and owing to passengers' propensity for motion sickness did not return for that. Stocked up on food in Robbinsville, but the alcohol-dependent should be aware that Graham County is dry: if you're planning to quaff Dom Perignon or belt down a gallon of hooch on arrival you'll need to stock up elsewhere. (The cabin is roughly equidistant between Robbinsville and Bryson City.) Highlights of our 4 days: Cherokee (the Museum of the Cherokee Indian is first rate); the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest (a good deal better than the poem, with an easy hour or so's walk along the trails); Lake Santeetlah (swimming at Cheoah Point); Fontana Lake (swimming at the Narrows, approx 1 m east of the 28/74 intersection) - all highly recommended. As our first experience of the Smoky Mountains, we were delighted to stay here."

  • A lovely getaway!

"A quite secluded location near Lake Fontana and Deals Gap. The owner was quick to respond to my request for available dates and provided accurate directions to their lovely cabin. Would gladly stay here again when I come back to this area."
