  • This place was everything we thought it would be!

"We pulled onto the property and was instantly amazed by the view. We had 5 couples who get together every couple of years in different parts of the country to have fun and tell lies as we call it. The 5 guys are all Desert Storm buddies who served together. This place was everything the reviews said it was. You can have total peace on the waters edge or live it up a little and have no problems. We enjoyed the cabin and the water activities. Also was happy town was not far away with some friendly people. I could write all that we did or saw but it falls in line with all the other reviews. Bottom line this place is worth the trip I'm ranking it right up at the top of the places this group has stayed!"

  • No Detail Left Unturned

"The High Country felt like a bespoke lodge for our family of (6). There was something for us all: (2) Adults, (2) 17 year old girls, and 12 year old and 13 year old boys. Every detail, in the lodge, was considered; from the layout, to the furnishings. If we ever started to feel too much togetherness, there were plenty of "spaces" to escape to. High Country Lodge is a great place to just "exist" and "escape" from the world, for a while. We had a great and relaxing time."

  • PERFECT!!!

"I don't think you will find a better value in the WNC mountains. A beautifully decorated cozy little cabin very close to the Tuckasegee river. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay....especially the nice toasty wood fire each night. We had agreed that a little snowfall would have completed our fantasy. As such we will certainly try to return this winter at first signs of snow. Very nice, clean, cozy, warm and above all relaxing! Loved it!"

  • Beautiful home and location!

"We enjoyed our stay at Bear Lake. The home was the perfect size for our family of 5. Although we did not eat at the club, the facilities were nice and the menu looked delicious. The outside fireplace was fantastic as was the fire pit. The kids enjoyed "exploring" by the stream behind the house. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with all the needed amenities. The personnel at guest services were extremely helpful. The location was very central to all the things we wanted to do. We spent the day in Asheville one day and the next we did a long hike at Great Smoky Mountain NP. We hope to stay here again."
