Tranquility at its best!!

5 of 5
From the moment you drive down the driveway you can understand why this house is so special. If BBQ and Beer were not calling our names, we would have been content to stay at the property our whole vacation. When you walk into the front foyer and look into the great room and see the magnificent view of the Smokey Mountains…..all your cares fade away. Your biggest decision at that point is which of the 6 bedrooms you will choose for your stay. We were lucky enough to stay in the master suite….such a beautiful suite that shows amazing attention to detail. The Kitchen is well equipped with anything you might need (except food) and a grocery store is only a 15 minute drive away. There is a breakfast nook which has a table for 6 (and a great view) and then there is a large wooden table that has enough seating for at least another 12 people. The great room has a big leather couch that is very comfortable and which faces a big screen TV with surround sound….so if you feel the need to stay “home” …… Downstairs is a game room, a media room, another kitchen and 3 more bedrooms…..and access to the outdoor fireplace. Our niece had a great time catching fire flies while us “big kids” enjoyed the fire. We seemed to spend most of our time on the back porch enjoying the view (and the rocking chairs). Fortunately we brought binoculars so we were able to be a little voyeuristic……lots of cows to spy on!!! Certain places invoke feelings ……. The Big House brings back happy and tranquil feelings. Just what a vacation should do!! Thank You Thad for making our North Carolina experience a happy one!

Great family ski vacation!

4 of 5
Perfect house for a multi-generation vacation; large family room, with tv, games & gas fireplace downstairs; spacious great room with sunny views of mountains, comfy furniture & wood-burning fireplace upstairs. Fabulous kitchen with every kitchen tool you could ever need! Great for a winter stay! Only 20 minutes to Cataloochee ski area; 30 minutes to Asheville with great restaurants, galleries, movie theaters and shops. The house is located in a lovely rural area, surrounded by farms & great views; but convenient to grocery store and pharmacy when needed. Loved having the washer & dryer for nightly drying of wet ski clothes! Would have rated this 5 stars except for the uncomfortable sofa bed as the bedding in the "4th" bedroom. We had brought our own air mattress and were very glad we did. Other than that, this was a perfect vacation home!
