  • Relaxing atmosphere

"The cabin was clean, well equipped, and the beds were comfy. We throughly enjoyed the deck and the fire pit. The scenery was beautiful and the temps were very pleasant for the summer. No humidity! We would love to visit again, perhaps in the fall of the year. We appreciated the Driggers prompt response to our questions and thank them for sharing their lovely Picture Perfect Cabin. • Lovely small cabin in the woods - but challenging access!

"I enjoyed my two days' stay at this lovely mountain cabin. But beware the steep, rutted gravel roads on the way! I managed it fine in my Jetta Sportswagen, but would not have wanted to try the rutted gravel roads in a low-lying sports car. I was nervous about the sharp gravel cutting my tires, which would not have been a happy situation on such steeply winding roads. The cabin itself was comfortable and well-equipped. It's basically a studio with one large room and a loft with very low ceilings and just enough room for a queen-size mattress. Not suitable for very small children -- ladder access is challenging and small children could fall from the loft area. The small kitchen is nicely designed for efficiency. It includes a dishwasher, smallish refrigerator, small microwave, and gas range. (No garbage disposal, but that was not a problem for me.) The bathroom was spacious with lots of drawers and a small shower (no tub). The bathroom fan made lots of noise and probably needs maintenance or replacement. The queen-size bed in the main room was fine, but not particularly comfortable. The main room also had a sofa with a pull-out bed, along with a small flat-screen television and DVD player on the wall across the room. Quite adequate for my needs. I enjoyed the small, private covered porch facing a pretty mountain/woods view. The large open deck in the photos is just below the owners' house, which looks over the deck -- fine for family picnics, but not good if you want privacy. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. The cabin would be fine for a couple and one or two children old enough to navigate the ladder up to the loft without danger. The cabin sits atop a single-car garage and a carport, but there is very minimal space to safely turn a vehicle around to exit from the very steep, deeply rutted gravel drive (which needs attention). I also found the lighting inadequate in the bathroom and kitchen area. (Adding strip lighting above the range would be a big plus.)"

  • Beautiful home with a fabulous view and close to everything!

"Our family came up for Spring Break to stay in is what I now refer to as my sanctuary! Absolute peace and quite with the nearest neighbor barely visible through the trees - I think it took me two days to even notice! After walking in to the home for the first time, I could not believe the view in front of me...absolutely stunning! The home itself, is nothing short of exquisite with a wonderful layout, large rooms, beautiful furnishings and tasteful decor. You can tell that the owners put a lot of thought into this home and it is well maintained. There are neat little features from lighting to architectural design that were so impressive. It is stocked with everything you'd expect and even hope for - paper products, trash bags, detergents, spices, linens, Wii games, board games, etc. The kitchen has everything you need for meal preparation. There is even a substantial CD collection and stereo for guest's use that we took full advantage of! Enjoyed having the music flow throughout the home. We would sit and watch - from inside, on the screened in porch or the deck - the view constantly changing with the clouds rolling by. Nighttime offered a completely perspective of overlooking the town full of twinkling lights! The owner, David, is a pleasure and easy to reach. He met us at the bottom of the mountain and lead us up Harriett's Trail to the property. We would have never found it otherwise! The drive up (and down!) the mountain is quite the "adventure" being that it is a one lane gravel road that is quite steep and winding even going through two creeks. Follow David's instructions...take the curves wide and put it in 4WD going up and low gear going down. Takes a few extra minutes to traverse but so worth it! When we did decide to venture out, we spent time window shopping in the lovely town of Waynesville, ate lunch at Haywood's Smokehouse and also at Clyde's, toured around Lake Junaluska, and spent one afternoon in Cherokee. Dollywood, about 1.5 hours away, provided a full day of activity. We also explored the nearby National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway and sought out quite a few waterfalls. Many things to do with so little time. This place is close to everything! We hated to leave but look forward to returning one day! Many thanks for a wonderful family vacation!"
