  • A Terrific Home for a Peaceful Weekend

"Shadow Ridge is a wonderful mountain home for spending a week in western NC with friends and/or family. Our group of 10 had ample room to socialize, cook, and entertain ourselves, and more than enough privacy for everyone. The location is proximate to Asheville and several outdoor recreation centers. The home's decor is charming, and Teri, the owner, was prompt and kind. I highly recommend Shadow Ridge!"

  • Loved this property!

"Our family of 10 (age 20 and up) thoroughly enjoyed this property. It was spacious and beautifully decorated. The porch view is stunning and the trail through the woods to the rock cliff overlook was also amazing! We cooked or grilled every evening and made a few treks down the mountain to Waynesville, Lake Junaluska and the surrounding area. Our kids took one day trip to Asheville and another afternoon to raft the Tuckasegee River. There's plenty of flat space at this property to play yard games (We love cornhole and kuub). The ping pong table also got a work out. We spent most of our time though on the deck in rocking chairs, enjoying the cool breezes and admiring the beautiful view all around. The drive up from the highway is not for the faint of heart; lots of switchbacks but we had no trouble even after dark. A beautiful place to hang out, relax and enjoy great conversation. You will not be disappointed. This is a beautiful home in a prime location. Thanks also to Mark for being so helpful and responsive."

  • Perfectly comfortable cottage!

"Our family of five (and labrador retriever) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this comfortable cottage. We had everything we needed, and the house was clean and neat. We especially loved the wonderful bedding and extra amenities, such as firewood and a well-stocked pantry and kitchen. The location is convenient to both Asheville and Waynesville (20-30 minutes from either). However, the secluded property is at the end of a dirt road adjacent to a lovely orchard. The riverfront area was neatly mowed and accessible. Extremely peaceful even though we were just minutes off of I-40!"

  • Exceptional view, home and experience

"My son and I spent the most amazing month here. I ditto all other comments made and add: We absolutely loved driving up and down the 2 mile road, 1.5 being hard gravel. The gravel portion was graded nicely while we were there. We do have a Subaru Outback 4 wheel drive so that made the drive down a dream. Without the 4w it would mean a lot of brake use but doable. Many switch backs, corkscrew turns up, up and up. Meeting other vehicles along the way was a fun challenge as the road is single lane. Always worked out as there seemed to be only a handful of others on the mountain. The house is at the end of Harriett's Trail, topping the ridge. Two creeks to drive through (no warnings) or maybe the same waterfall twice. We never determined. I have over 65 years of coming to Waynesville so there is much great history as well as local family for us. This was our most fun and most beautiful stay. Even our local visitors said it was the most beautiful wide view they had ever seen on private property. Many called it the million dollar view and were sincere about it. We saw deer, hedgehogs, turkeys, etc., but no bears. Although we didn't use the basement level we agreed that kids would have a great time there. It offered so much for them. The work out room is quite amazing also. We can't recommend this property enough. David, the owner who will meet you at the apple barn when you arrive, is delightful and most accommodating."
