  • Great, simple property close to everything in Asheville

"We had a great time staying at the house for our long weekend in Asheville with 3 adults. The house is the perfect size for 2-4 people, although it can sleep 6 I think it would be pretty tight with more than 4 (unless there are some kids, who I'm sure would get a great kick out of sleeping in the loft). The surrounding property is gorgeous, it's very peaceful, and yet it's only a 5 minute drive to downtown Asheville. The furnishings are bare bones, but sufficient (everything is IKEA and not a lot of decor or individual touches, but for a rental property that's totally understandable). The beds are comfortable, and the house came stocked with everything we needed - trash bags, paper towels, linens, coffee filters, soap, even laundry detergent and a nice bottle of local wine. Everything was in great working order and the house was clean - I'm a bit of a neat freak so I noticed a few areas here and there that could use a little more attention, but nothing that made me feel uncomfortable. Unfortunately it was unseasonably warm during our visit so we didn't get make use of the wood stove! As other people mentioned in their reviews, do watch your feet on the brick surround for the stove, it's quite easy to trip or stub your toe. Next time we visit we would definitely consider renting this house again! It was a gorgeous mountain getaway with the convenience of being so close to downtown."

  • Very peaceful

"Just wanted to thank you for a great week at the lake. We enjoyed the house and the lake. Our 10 yr old lab LOVED swimming and "fishing" in the lake. He has not been able to do that since we moved to SC since there are alligators in all of our lagoons. My husband enjoyed fishing, but didn't catch anything. According to him there is not enough "structure", but it was still relaxing and enjoyable for him. We were thrilled with all of the things that came with the house...extra linens, pillows, blankets, paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, dish soap, shampoo, and hand soap. We have stayed in several VRBO homes and had to go to the grocery store the 1st day to get some of those things. That was VERY nice and we appreciate it. The kitchen is awesome. We made some meals there and brought some in, but there wasn't one thing we needed that we couldn't find. The outside area is wonderful. What a gorgeous view and the chairs on the dock, in the yard and on the porch are great. We did not canoe, but how nice to have it available for us. Also, it is great that you guys are so dog friendly. We like to travel with our dogs but it is difficult to find places that work out as well as yours (both inside and outside). Lastly, I want to thank you for being so responsive when we were working to set this up, and texting once we got there. You are very easy to work with and returned our damage deposit immediately. We didn't do much in the town but did go to Crowder Mountain one day. We hiked around with the dogs. The paths are very well maintained and the park is very beautiful and peaceful. We had dinner at Chens. Very good Chinese. We were not impressed with Alston Bridges BBQ, the ribs were chewy and they do not serve alcohol. The wings place (Wings, Etc) is a good place to catch a game, a beer and a burger. All in all, we had a great week."

  • It was fabulous!

"We had a wonderful stay. The house was equipped with everything we needed for our mountain weekend getaway. It was also close to WCU for visiting our girls at a football game. Will definitely stay again here in the future."
