  • Cozy family home

"We stayed here on a weekend with our family and the house was well suited for the little ones. There was a crib and high chair and baby gates. There is a living room and a lower level family room which was great for corralling little ones (but low ceilings in part) This was a much more comfortable and affordable option for our family (Our 3 kids, their spouses and 3 grandkids) than a hotel. We could enjoy our time together, enjoy the little ones and still go to the waterpark. And we had the option of being able to cook. Elizabeth was very attentive and helpful. The home is older and nicely decorated and the town of Huron is very cute. This house is only 6 miles from the waterparks."

  • Wonderful Home For Group n. Cedar Point & Lake Erie Shore!!!

"I rate this highly because it was perfect for us - adults and kids (ages 6-15) who needed a clean, very functional home for an annual gathering and central place to stage visits to area beaches, islands, and amusement parks. Cozy, layout with bedrooms on the ends and plenty of common space in the middle that then flowed into a kitchen and outside to an area with grille, fire ring, table area, and canopied porch. We had as many as 16 stay the night and it never felt overcrowded. If you want swanky decor, look elsewhere! We loved the great value and high functionality. (Only beef - the Internet signal was poor; however, cellphone signal was strong and provided excellent hot spot.) Kudos to Mark & Julie at Shade Acres!!!"

  • Clean and Convenient for Cedar Point

"Our family of five stayed here for three nights while visiting Cedar Point. We selected it due to its proximity to the park, and we are glad we did. We were close enough to drive back for dinner and return to the park afterward. The house is well equipped in the kitchen with needed pans and tableware. It was clean and relatively comfortable for our needs. The evenings were quiet, and we spent some time enjoying a walk around the block and down to the marina. The house is cooled with window air conditioners, which did the job just fine. We did find that one of the bedrooms upstairs has the air conditioner right behind the door, so we had to keep that room's door closed or the A/C would cause condensation on the back of the door. But that was fine, as we kept the doors closed anyway to keep the cool air in the bedrooms and not spilling down the stairs. We were able to park comfortably next to the house as shown in the photos, and we pulled our car back away from the street at night. The back yard has a picnic table, which we enjoyed the first evening that we arrived. There is a little fire pit, and Gary helpfully offered us wood from the marina area. We didn't use that while we were there, because we got back to the house late each night. But the back yard is a nice little private area. Waste disposal is easy, as you simply take the trash next door to the marina dumpster. The outdoor grill needs some work. The tank was full of propane, but we could not get the main burners to light. The side burner lit, but the main burner seems either rusted out or clogged. We didn't spend a lot of time cooking, so we didn't bother to bring it up to the owners. I'm sure they would have taken care of the problem for us if we had asked. I suggest the owners consider a room dehumidifier. We were there in early July, and we ran the A/C to get the humidity down, but that left the main level quite cool. A freestanding dehumidifier would have made the area more comfortable and not needing to be quite so cold. They may also wish to think about replacing the mattress in the upstairs bedroom that has the one bed in it. That mattress is rather soft and springy such that we had to almost draw straws to see which child would use that bed. This house is a great choice for the price and proximity to Cedar Point. Our security deposit was refunded promptly after departure. I would definitely stay here again if we returned."
