  • Great location, Beautiful Home!

"We just returned from a week at Valley View Cottage. What spectacular views and a picturesque setting. Our family of 7 (including a nearly one-year-old) had a fabulous stay. Mel & Jo Anne are gracious hosts who truly want guests to have a comfortable stay! We were greeted by a gift basket of ingredients to make smores and Jo Anne even provided my favorite coffee, Starbucks French Roast, after reading about it in my book. How thoughtful! She also provided a pack & play and high chair for our granddaughter. The house is supplied with everything you would need and the beds, linens and bath towels were of the best quality. We’ve rented homes in the past, but none of them had such fine linens. The kitchen was fully-furnished and had numerous appliances such as a toaster, popcorn maker and blender. This was excellent since we hosted a 4th of July BBQ with family who live in the area. There was plenty of room for us to gather in the living room, on the porch or the back patio. The patio had a large fire pit which we enjoyed several evenings and the pizza oven was awesome! We played croquet, corn hole and fished quite a bit. We even played a few of the games stashed in the cabinet. The home location was so private it felt like we were the only ones around except for several deer we spotted during the week. This home is a perfect location for touring the area. We visited Mohican, the Reformatory, Amish country, Cedar Point and even drove to Cleveland to watch the Indians one day. We will definitely return in the near future. We think the Fall would be just as gorgeous! Don’t hesitate to reserve this property. You’ll be pleased you did!"

  • Wonderful Home For Group n. Cedar Point & Lake Erie Shore!!!

"I rate this highly because it was perfect for us - adults and kids (ages 6-15) who needed a clean, very functional home for an annual gathering and central place to stage visits to area beaches, islands, and amusement parks. Cozy, layout with bedrooms on the ends and plenty of common space in the middle that then flowed into a kitchen and outside to an area with grille, fire ring, table area, and canopied porch. We had as many as 16 stay the night and it never felt overcrowded. If you want swanky decor, look elsewhere! We loved the great value and high functionality. (Only beef - the Internet signal was poor; however, cellphone signal was strong and provided excellent hot spot.) Kudos to Mark & Julie at Shade Acres!!!"

  • Great home for a great vacation. So clean and great location

"We had 9 people staying for the week and there was more than enough room for all of us. The kitchen was stocked with anything you would need. We even used the crock pot to have dinner ready when we got home from our day adventuring. So close to the highway for access to Sandusky, Toledo, Cleveland. Gregg and Carol were so great to work with and responded to questions within hours. The bikes were great. Private beach was relaxing. Old Homestead area was quaint and fun to walk or bike around. A few restaurants in the area were very good. There is a little grocery store around the corner but since we had 9 people and a lot of shopping for the week we went to super walmart which wasn't far. We played board games and cards-supplied in the house. Wifi was nice to have with 2 tweens .We were able to find local places to rent wave runners which was so nice out on the lake. There are only 2 reasons I didn't give this house 5 stars and may not be important to others. 1- there were only 12 channels on the tv. with a 2 year old and tweens they were wanting more on the rainy day. 2- the grill is charcoal which I don't like working with. this is mentioned in the description so I knew but gave it a try which didn't go so well for me. Don't hesitate to book this house. It is great"

  • Property was clean as stated

"I would stay here again. Very clean and roomier than I thought. Beautiful view of the lake. Every place we visited was within minutes, walking or driving. The people were so polite and the neighbors were quiet."
